New Books!

Here a couple new books we have added to the Juvenile Collection over the Summer!

A Night For Mischief by Alison Finley: Halloween is thirteen-year-old Syd’s favorite night of the year, but when she gets teased by older kids about her costume, she decides to sit this one out. But then her friend Jake finds a strange mask in a box of estate-sale junk to wear for his costume and manages to convince Syd to go to a haunted house. When Jake puts on the mask, he starts acting strangely, claiming to be "the Spirit of Mischief", and soon he's causing trouble all over town. With Halloween revellers transforming into werewolves, pirates, alligators—real-life versions of their costumes—and Halloween decorations coming alive and roaming the streets, Syd needs to embrace her love of Halloween to find a way to defeat Mischief before someone gets hurt.

Better the Devil by Erik J. Brown: Better the Devil follows a runaway teen who, to avoid returning to abusive parents, impersonates a boy missing for a decade. Welcomed into the boy’s family, he glimpses a safer life—until strange disturbances hint at a darker truth and a past murder that may mark him as the next target.

As many of you know I will be retired from the Library this Thursday April 30 after 36 years of service. I would like to take this time to thank the Provincial Libraries for the opportunity of having this amazing career. Working with staff of NLP has been my pleasure and made my job so much easier, an inspiring group of people for sure.
It has been an honour and a pleasure of serving the people of Hermitage/Sandyville, and Seal cove. There are so many of you to thank for my success. Our local Library board members in helping make our special programs exciting and fun, doing fundraising events and always there to lend a helping hand. I appreciated you all.
Doing programs as Storytime, summer reading program, book club, rug hooking and craft night, seniors Christmas parties, my Santa’s, and so much more, I thank you for participation.
Thank you JWA for the space in your school and your kindness and support throughout the years. Many, many thanks to all who helped in so many ways, without you all it couldn’t have happened.
