Curbside recycling ♻️ is coming to High River!

Curbside Recycling is Starting Soon!
Starting in October 2026, residents will have access to a new curbside recycling program, making it easier to recycle more packaging and paper materials from home.

New 360-litre recycling carts will be delivered to homes and residences in mid-to-late September, with the first collection tentatively scheduled for Oct. 12, 2026.

Before the program begins, there are a few things residents should know, including what can go in your recycling cart, how to prepare your recycling and where to place your cart on collection day. Residents will also receive a recycling guide in the mail from Circular Materials with information to help you get ready for the new program.

Are you wondering about the proposed Data Centres and would like to know more?

There has been a lot of discussion lately about AI data centres in Alberta. What they are, why companies are looking at Alberta, the opportunities they may create, and the questions around power, water, land, infrastructure and communities.

If you are curious, have questions, or simply want to better understand what is being proposed, here is an opportunity to hear directly from the Government of Alberta.

The Province has launched a series of town halls on AI data centre development, along with a new online information hub.

The town halls are an opportunity to:

• Learn more about AI data centres and why Alberta is seeing increased interest
• Hear directly from the Alberta government about its approach
• Ask the questions you have
• Learn more about electricity, water, environmental and community considerations
• Provide your input

There are lots of opinions and conversations happening around AI data centres. Taking the time to learn more, hear the information firsthand and ask questions is an important part of understanding this emerging industry.

Thank you to everyone who joined us on June 23 for the Northeast Area Structure Plan (ASP) Public Open House.
We appreciate the time residents took to review the draft ASP and share feedback on the future growth and development of northeast High River.
If you were unable to attend the Open House, you can still provide your feedback through the online survey which will remain open until July 7 at 11:59 p.m.

What’s next?
Following this final round of public engagement, the draft ASP will be refined and presented to Council. A public hearing will be scheduled in the fall, where residents will have the opportunity to provide formal input before Council makes a final decision.
