The signs are down, and the unofficial numbers are in.

While I may not have been elected to Town Council, I am truly honoured for every single vote that was cast my way. Running in this election has changed me in ways I never expected — it expanded my comfort zone, taught me so much about local governance, and deepened my love for this incredible community we call home.

To everyone who interacted with a post, shared words of encouragement, displayed a lawn sign, or donated to my campaign — thank you. Your belief in me, and in what I stood for, means more than I can express.

In 10 days (on October 31), I’ll be closing down my Candisse on Council website, social media pages, and email account. But this isn’t goodbye — it’s just a shift. I’d love for you to continue following my journey at:

I’m already diving into new chapters — continuing to build my passion project, WILD Women: Wealth, Inspiration, Leadership, Development, joining the High River HandiBus Board, and taking on my first project with them to help grow their online and social media presence. I’ll also continue my work as an accessibility consultant, and my books are open for speaking engagements on perseverance and my “You Can” life motto.

This campaign may be over, but my dedication to our town — and to helping people see what’s possible when they believe in themselves — is stronger than ever. Thank you, High River, for the conversations, the lessons, and the heart you’ve shown every step of the way. 🩷

In just one hour, the polls open for the final time in this election — the last chance to vote for the next High River Town Council.

When I first filed my Notice of Intent, I had no idea how much this experience would teach me — not just about policy and process, but about people. This campaign has been about connection, conversation, and community.

I’ve stood for transparency, because residents deserve to be informed and included.
I’ve stood for accessibility, because a community should work for everyone — from the downtown core to our recreation spaces, and for residents of every age and ability.
I’ve stood for balanced growth, because we can attract new business and development while still protecting the small-town heart that makes High River home.
I’ve stood for collaboration, because good ideas come from listening — to residents, to business owners, to town staff, and to each other.
And most of all, I’ve stood for YOU — the people who love this town as much as I do and want to see it continue to thrive.

To everyone who has reached out, shared a post, placed a sign on your lawn, or simply believed in me — thank you. Your support has meant more than I can express.

As the polls open one last time, I want to especially encourage those 40 and under to get out and vote. This election is about shaping the future of our town — a future that will affect you, your families, your homes, and your opportunities for years to come. Vote for the person who will build the kind of High River you want to live in.

Whatever happens tonight, I’m proud of the campaign I’ve run — one rooted in honesty, respect, and hope for what’s possible when community comes first.

You Can. We Can. High River Can.

That’s a wrap.

Campaigning is officially done, and now everything rests in the hands of the voters.

It’s been such an incredible privilege to run alongside the people in this photo — the other candidates who put their names forward for this year’s election. I’m so proud and honoured to have had the chance to talk with, learn from, and connect with each of them throughout this campaign.

Missing from today’s photo: Craig Snodgrass, Jamie Barton, and Cathy Couey, who had other commitments and couldn’t join us.

A special shout-out to Tricia Bliss for organizing this last-chance meet-and-greet and to Mr. Mikes High River for letting us take over the lodge side of the restaurant for one final gathering.

Thank you to every single person who reached out, shared a post, displayed a sign, or took the time to cast — or soon will cast — a vote in my favour.
No matter the outcome, I’m so grateful for this experience and for the community that continues to show up for High River.

I went and cast my vote today.

I have to admit, it was a bit surreal to see my own name on the ballot. Never in my life did I picture myself running for Town Council. I don’t think I’ve ever once said, “When I grow up, I want to be a councillor.” But here I am.

For a long time, I believed I needed more—more political experience, more education, more something—to be “qualified.” But what I’ve learned through this process is that what really matters is passion. Passion for our community. Passion for working alongside others to make High River the best it can be. Passion for listening to residents and bringing those voices into the conversations that shape our town’s future.

Putting my name forward wasn’t about having all the answers. It was about being willing to show up, to learn, and to represent the people who care deeply about this place—just like I do.

Today, I felt proud. Excited. And yes, nervous in the best possible way.

Some people might feel like their vote doesn’t matter, but I promise you—it does. It matters to me. And it matters to our town.

If you truly love this community, take the time to vote. Even if you don’t mark all six boxes for councillor, vote for the ones you believe in, the ones you trust, and the ones you think will work hard for High River.

Because that’s what this is all about—people who care, stepping up for the place we call home.
