💧 New Alma Water System – Planned Commissioning June 1, 2026 💧

We are pleased to announce that the new Alma Water System is planned to come online Monday, June 1, 2026.

This marks a significant milestone for our community and represents an important investment in the reliability, resilience, and long-term sustainability of Alma’s drinking water infrastructure.

During the initial transition to the new system, residents may experience temporary fluctuations in water pressure as operators complete the changeover. In the days and weeks following startup, minor pressure variations may also occur as the system is carefully monitored, tested, and adjusted to achieve optimal performance.

As water begins flowing through the new infrastructure and operating conditions are fine-tuned, some residents may also notice:
• Brief periods of cloudy or discoloured water caused by harmless air in the system or the movement of naturally occurring sediment within water mains.
• Temporary changes in water taste or odour as the system stabilizes.
• Occasional fluctuations in water pressure while system settings are optimized.

These effects, if experienced, are typically short-term and are a normal part of bringing a new water system into operation.

Throughout the commissioning period, our operators, engineers, and contractors will be closely monitoring system performance to ensure the highest standards of water quality, safety, and service reliability are maintained.

We would like to sincerely thank residents for their continued patience, support, and understanding throughout the construction and commissioning process. Your cooperation has helped make this important project possible, and we look forward to delivering the long-term benefits this investment will provide for our community.

If you experience any significant issues with your water service following the changeover, please contact the Village of Fundy Albert Operations Department at 506-734-3733 or [email protected].

Thank you for your patience and support as we complete this exciting transition and take another important step toward strengthening Alma’s water infrastructure for the future.

On behalf of Council, we would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the volunteer firefighters of the Riverside-Albert, Alma, Hillsborough, and Riverview Fire Departments for their quick, coordinated, and professional response to the wildfire in Fundy Albert. We are extremely fortunate to have dedicated volunteers who leave their families, jobs, and personal commitments at a moment’s notice to protect our residents, our properties, and our community. Their commitment, courage, and service are deeply valued.

Council would also like to recognize and thank the Department of Natural Resources for its rapid response and for deploying water bombers to assist with the situation. Their leadership and support was critical and greatly appreciated.

Events like this remind us how important strong partnerships, emergency preparedness, and community service are in protecting rural communities. To everyone who responded, assisted, supported, or stood ready to help: thank you.

This week, we recognize Public Works Week and take the opportunity to thank the dedicated public works employees of Fundy Albert who help keep our municipality operating every day.

Public works is often most visible when something goes wrong — a road needs attention, a water issue occurs, snow needs to be cleared, a culvert needs repair, a facility needs maintenance, or an urgent problem has to be addressed quickly. But the truth is that our public works staff is making a difference every day, often behind the scenes, through hard, practical, and essential work that directly affects the quality of life of Fundy Albert residents.

Their work is not always easy. It is physical, demanding, and frequently done in difficult weather, under tight timelines, and in situations where residents are depending on a quick and effective response. Whether maintaining roads, supporting water and wastewater systems, preparing public spaces, responding to emergencies, repairing infrastructure, or keeping municipal facilities safe and functional, our public works employees play a vital role in the services people rely on.

On behalf of Council, I want to sincerely thank our public works team for their commitment, professionalism, and service to the community. Their efforts help keep Fundy Albert moving, safe, and well-served.

Please join me in recognizing and thanking our public works employees during Public Works Week.

Mayor Campbell
