Wonderful dinner The Blend Kitchen + Bar Hinton as they had their Jazz night! It was a full house with a waiting list! Thanks to Kailey Ives for joining me. Such a nice event for this town. Hope they do it again!

Hinton showed up. ❤️

What an incredible way to celebrate 70 years of Hinton.

From opening the 2001 time capsule and getting a glimpse back at who we were 25 years ago, to creating a new time capsule that won’t be opened for another 40 years. There was something pretty special about standing together in that moment, looking both backward and forward.
The vendors, the food, the cake crowd, the happy hour crowd, the conversations and laughter,and then, as evening came, the absolute DROVES of people who arrived for the fireworks. So many youth!!!

And those fireworks. ❤️

I’ll admit, I had tears in my eyes watching them.
I stood there looking around at hundreds of people gathered together, I couldn’t help but think about our late Councillor Mcdonald Bill and how much he would have absolutely loved it. The fireworks, the crowds, the celebration and, most of all, that incredible display of community spirit.

We definitely missed the T-shirts he undoubtedly would have had made for the occasion. 😂❤️

The feedback on the fireworks as I left the site have been incredible, but what struck me even more was seeing Hinton come together the way it did. Families, friends, neighbours, longtime residents and newcomers all showing up to celebrate the community we call home. We weren’t celebrating anything other than ourselves and our community. What a privilege.

Events like this don’t just happen. They take staff, volunteers, vendors, organizations and countless people working behind the scenes and then they take a community willing to show up.

And Hinton showed up!!! Despite the fall weather! I was freezing all day.

I am incredibly proud to be a public servant in a community that can put on an event like this and see this level of participation and community spirit in return.

Happy 70th Anniversary, Hinton.

Here’s to the people who built this community, the people we wish were still here to celebrate it with us, those of us lucky enough to call it home today, and the generations who will open that time capsule 40 years from now and get a little glimpse of who we were.

Tonight, Hinton feels pretty damn special. ❤️ It’s an honour to be a public servant in this community.

It was great to watch democracy in action tonight at the Hinton & District Chamber of Commerce candidates forum! Unfortunately I wasn’t able to attend in person but was able to watch the live stream. Great questions and great answers by our future councillors. Now go do the important thing and get out to vote! We are lucky once again to have such a great selection of candidates running. 🗳️🗳️☑️☑️ I am excited to see who fills the chairs at our table and helps us move ahead with our strategic plan and growing our beautiful community.

I am very happy I got to go out and spend some time at this Friday in Green square! Remastered Band was awesome (as always) and I was able to stop in at The Blend Kitchen + Bar Hinton and then have some ice cream from The Funky Monkey! Great to see so many people out there and I’m really excited to see these going on all summer.

Griffin and I just had the most wonderful lunch at Montanas in Hinton! The hot sizzling chicken fajitas were delicious. It’s exciting to have a new restaurant in town. I can’t believe how extensive the renovations are! Prices are really fair and service was excellent! Welcome to Hinton Montana's BBQ!

It’s been a great weekend out at Wild Mountain Music Festival and it’s been encouraging to see our community partners Hiv West Yellowhead out at the festival educating young and old alike on Naloxone use and safe s*x education. Not a comfortable subject for everyone yet very important discussions to have with our youth. It’s great to have groups like this operational in our communities and making programs and training accessible and conversations comfortable.
