🏡✨ What started as a response to the 2024 Jasper wildfire has become a lasting benefit for our community.

🤝 By providing municipally owned land at 134 Boutin Ave. for $1, the Town of Hinton helped make Willow Grove possible, creating housing for seniors displaced from Pine Grove Manor in Jasper. ❤️🏠

🌱 With the homes now complete, Willow Grove will continue serving housing needs while supporting future growth in Hinton. 📈🏘️💚

🏡 Welcoming Home: Willow Grove Residences Officially Opens in Hinton

Today, The Evergreens Foundation is proud to celebrate the grand opening of Willow Grove Residences in Hinton - a brand-new housing complex built to support seniors displaced by the devastating 2024 Jasper wildfire and to serve seniors across our region for years to come.

When the wildfire tore through Jasper in July 2024, it destroyed Pine Grove Manor, uprooting long-time residents from the only home many had known for decades. While the Government of Alberta works on rebuilding Pine Grove Manor in Jasper, they moved quickly to design and construct Willow Grove Residences as a warm, dignified place for those seniors to land - and to remain a lasting housing resource for older adults in our community even after Pine Grove reopens.

🤝 A Government of Alberta Investment

Willow Grove Residences was fully designed, built, and funded by the Government of Alberta, reflecting a real commitment to Jasper’s displaced seniors and to affordable seniors’ housing across the region. Now complete, the province has handed the keys over to The Evergreens Foundation to operate.

🌱 Made Possible by the Town of Hinton

None of this would have been possible without the Town of Hinton, which generously donated the land for Willow Grove Residences. That gift of land - sitting right alongside our existing Pine Valley Lodge - turned a provincial commitment into a real, standing home for seniors, and speaks to just how much this community has stepped up for its neighbours in Jasper.

🏘️ EGF’s Role

As the operator, EGF will bring the same person-centred approach we provide across all our lodges and manors - safe, supported, independent living, a strong sense of community, and responsive local staff who know our residents by name. Willow Grove will house seniors displaced by the wildfire first and foremost, while also opening its doors to other seniors in our member municipalities who need quality, affordable housing.

🎉 Grand Opening – Today
We were honoured to welcome the Honourable Martin Long, Minister of Infrastructure and MLA for West Yellowhead, who delivered remarks on behalf of Honourable Nathan Neudorf, Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services. Thank you for joining us for the inauguration celebration!

This is a proud moment for our residents, our staff, and our communities - a story of resilience, partnership, and a renewed place to call home.

Today, we were honoured to welcome MP William Stevenson for a tour of Kikinow Elders Lodge.

It was a pleasure to share the welcoming spirit of Kikinow, introduce our residents and team, and highlight the importance of providing a safe, culturally welcoming home where Elders are treated with dignity, respect, and care.

Thank you for taking the time to visit, learn more about our community, and celebrate the meaningful work being done to support Indigenous Elders. We appreciate the opportunity to share the heart of Kikinow.

Today, our CAO Kristen Chambers was privileged to attend a roundtable discussion with Alberta's new Minister of Assisted Living and Social Services, Nathan Neudorf , at Government House in Edmonton.

The roundtable brought together a strong cross-section of housing and support service providers from across the province, creating a valuable opportunity to discuss both the successes we've achieved and the challenges we continue to navigate. The conversation also focused on our shared vision for the future and how we can continue strengthening supports for Albertans.

It was encouraging to see such strong alignment and collaboration around the table, with everyone committed to improving services and building stronger communities.

We look forward to working alongside Minister Neudorf in his new portfolio and continuing these important conversations in the months ahead.

The Evergreens Foundation would like to thank Minister of Infrastructure Martin Long and members of the Government of Alberta’s Capital Branch for taking the time to visit Hinton and tour our new seniors housing development.

We are excited to soon welcome the first residents to their new homes, including seniors who lost their homes in the 2024 Jasper wildfire. Later this month, they will be able to return to the region and begin settling into a new place to call home.

We appreciate the opportunity to showcase this important development and the positive impact it will have for seniors in our region.

A memorable day for The Evergreens Foundation! Thursday July 9th, we celebrated the sod turning of the future Wildwood Seniors Lodge - a major milestone for Wildwood, East
Yellowhead County and the future of seniors housing in rural Alberta!

This project is an exciting investment in the future of Wildwood itself. The Wildwood Seniors Lodge will become a defining part of the hamlet’s landscape and a lasting symbol of the community’s commitment to its seniors, while also creating new employment
opportunities and strengthening local services for years to come!

The Evergreens Foundation was honoured to welcome Dane Lloyd, MP; Erika Washington, Executive Director, Capital Program, Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services,
Government of Alberta; Mayor Wade Williams, Yellowhead County; Irene Martin Lindsay, Executive Director of ASCHA; former MP, and former EGF Board Chair Gerald Soroka; and
members of the EGF Board of Directors, including Anthony J Giezen, Brian LaBerge, John McNab, Al Schram, and Winston Delorme.

We were also pleased to recognize Yellowhead County Councillors and CAO, colleagues from neighbouring Housing Management Bodies - Meridian Housing Foundation, Lac Ste. Anne
Foundation, Brazeau Foundation, and Barrhead and District Social Housing Association. As well as EGF industry partners, vendors, suppliers, project partners Scott Builders Inc, Colliers Project Leaders, Joe Tkalcic Architecture Studio, residents from Parkland Lodge and Sunshine Place Lodge, community members from Wildwood, and EGF team members from across the organization who joined us to celebrate this exciting day!

Made possible through funding from the Government of Canada through CMHC’s Affordable Housing Fund, the Government of Alberta, through the Seniors Lodge Modernization Program, the continued support of Evergreens Foundation member municipalities, and Yellowhead County’s land contribution, the Wildwood Seniors Lodge represents an important investment in the future of rural seniors housing. As the first project in Alberta to receive provincial capital funding approval through the new Seniors Lodge Modernization Program, the Wildwood Seniors Lodge marks a significant step forward not only for the region, but for seniors housing development across the province.

A special thank you to Baba Kazala Eats for the wonderful catering and to Fleeting Reality Photography for capturing the day for us!
