🚧 Water Outage Notice 🚧

💧 There will be a water outage starting at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26 to repair a Town watermain valve.

📍 There will be no water available for properties located between the intersection of Mountain Street and Robb Road, west to Mountain Street and Maligne Drive.

This includes properties along: • Hansen Drive • Mountain Street • Maligne Drive • Maligne Place • MacPherson Drive • MacPherson Square • Fairfax Drive

✅ Water service will be restored the same day (August 26).
🚰 In the meantime, residents will need alternate sources of water for:
• Cooking
• Drinking
• Bathroom use

🙏 The Town apologizes for the short notice. Letters have been delivered to affected properties.

🚗 The west end of Maligne Drive at Mountain Street (⭐ red star on map) will be closed for the duration of the repair. Please use the east end of Maligne Drive for access.

⏱️ Please note that we will not know the exact time water service will be restored until the repair is complete.

🚨 Upcoming Water Restriction | September 21-24

The Town of Hinton, in partnership with Mondi, will be conducting planned maintenance at the Water Treatment Plant, requiring a complete shutdown from September 21-24. 💧

To help maintain essential water supplies, residents and businesses will be asked to use water for essential purposes only, including drinking, cooking, and personal hygiene.

During the shutdown, please avoid: ❌ Watering lawns and gardens ❌ Washing vehicles ❌ Filling pools or fountains ❌ Washing driveways and sidewalks

🚧💧 Water Service Disruption Notice 💧🚧

Update: 10:30 a.m. August 25, 2026.
- Due to a large excavation on the west end of Maligne Drive, the road is blocked, and access to Maligne Drive will be via the east end (road closure indicated by a red star on the map).

There will be water disruptions and outages starting at 8 a.m. this morning (August 25) to repair a Town watermain valve located at the corner of Maligne Drive and Mountain Street. 🔧

📍 Disrupted areas may include properties located between the intersection of Highway 16 and Eaton Road, west to the intersection of Mountain Street and Collinge Road. This may include properties in the Eaton Drive area, Mountain Street area, and all side streets (circled in red on the map).

💧 Water will be returned to service later today, August 25. In the interim, you may need alternate sources of water for cooking 🍳, drinking 🥤, and bathroom use 🚻. The Town apologizes for the short notice.

📞 If you have questions, please contact Infrastructure Services at 780-865-2634. However, please note that we will not know what time the water will be turned on again until the repair is complete. ⏳

Get ready to vote, Hinton!

Five candidates are nominated for the by-election of two Councillor positions.

Advance voting is TODAY! Aug. 22, 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at Hinton Government Centre, 131 Civic Centre Road.

Election Day is Thursday, August 27. 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at the Hinton Centre.

If you are unable to vote during an Advance Vote or on Election Day, you may request a Special Ballot. Requests for a Special Ballot must be submitted by email to [email protected] no later than 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24.

Completed Special Ballot packages must be received by the Returning Officer before the close of voting on Election Day, August 27.

We’re Hiring – FCSS

We’re looking for passionate individuals to join our FCSS team in two exciting roles:

👨‍👩‍👧 Caregiver Education Coordinator
Support caregivers and families through workshops, one-on-one support, education, resources, and community partnerships. This is a grant-funded position.

🤝 Individual Supports Coordinator
Provide personalized support and resources to residents, with a focus on seniors and abuse prevention, while helping individuals build independence, coping skills, and resilience.

💙 Both positions work closely with community partners, agencies, municipal staff, and the public to strengthen our community and enhance quality of life.
