Today I was so happy to have the opportunity to recognize a very special young constituent of mine in the House of Assembly: Karlee MacDonald of North River.

Despite being only 10 years old, and having faced health challenges in her own life, Karlee has spent years fundraising for children’s healthcare in our province. Thanks to her dedication, compassion, and generosity, Karlee was named the 2026 Children’s Miracle Network Janeway Champion. Tune in this weekend to see Karlee on the 2026 Janeway Telethon, from June 6th to June 7th.

Please join me in thanking Karlee for her dedication to fundraising for children’s healthcare in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Last week I was given the opportunity to recognize Law Enforcement Torch Run Week in the House of Assembly. Since 1989, law enforcement officials across our province have supported the Special Olympics through the Law Enforcement Torch Run. These members of our law enforcement community show dedication through not only through their professional duties, but also through their support for organizations like the Special Olympics. Please join me in recognizing the dedication of all those who participate in the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

This week I was so happy to get the chance to recognize two of my constituents in the House of Assembly: Glen Doyle and Roselle Doyle of Avondale. Roselle’s artwork depicts some of the best parts of Newfoundland and Labrador’s beautiful nature, culture, and landscapes. Glen’s books (written under the pen name Thaine Chase), depict a variety of engaging stories across numerous different genres. Together, Glen and Roselle are a fantastic example of the creative spirit innate in all Newfoundlanders and Labradorians. Please join me in congratulating them for all of their achievements so far.

It was truly a privilege to speak at this morning's graduation ceremony for our newest class of correctional officers. The work of correctional officers is critical to making Newfoundland and Labrador a safe place to live and raise a family, and I am so pleased to see that another 36 men and women have stepped up to take on this important role. Please join me in congratulating them on this huge accomplishment.
