Great night for Blandford & Area Fire Rescue at the Bridgewater Exhibition Firefighters Challenge!
Our members showed incredible teamwork and determination, earning 1st place in Hoses and 3rd place in Bucket Brigade

⛈️HEAVY RAIN FORCASTED: FLOOD PREPAREDNESS TIPS⛈️
Environment Canada is forecasting a heavy rainfall potential over Wednesday and Thursday this week (July 22nd & 23rd) with some areas possibly receiving up to 100mm accumulated. Rainfall amounts may vary by location, but this is a quick reminder that heavy downpours can lead to localized flooding, especially in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

FLOOD SAFETY TIPS:
>> BE PREPARED
>>> Check your sump pump, drains, and gutters to manage the water coming down
>>> Keep valuables and chemicals away from flood prone areas in your home
>>> Keep devices charged and keep flashlights and other essential devices near by
>>> Top up any essential items, medications, fuel, groceries, etc.
>>> Know your way to high ground and your evacuation routes. Know where your emergency kits and important documents are

We encourage all ratepayers in the Blandford Area Fire District to attend the annual Ratepayers’ Meeting. Your participation directly supports the volunteers who respond day and night to keep our district protected.

Our district’s fire area rate is $0.13 per $100 of assessed property value.

𝘞𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘢𝘹 𝘮𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘺 𝘨𝘰?
Your contributions support the essential operations of the Blandford & Area Fire Rescue including:
- Training and certification
- Safety gear and protective equipment
- Fire trucks and apparatus maintenance
- Insurance and operational costs
- Equipment upgrades and long‑term planning
These funds ensure our volunteers have the tools and resources they need to respond safely and effectively.

The Fire Commission is responsible for the administration of the fire district, including budgeting, financial oversight, equipment planning, and ensuring the department has what it needs to operate safely and responsibly.

𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘌𝘭𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘴
Each year, two commissioner positions are up for election. If you’re interested in supporting your local volunteer fire department in a meaningful way, consider putting your name forward to serve as a commissioner. Attend the meeting, be nominated, then elected, 3 year term.

Your voice matters. Your vote matters. Your support matters.

The Blandford & Area Fire Rescue needs your support to ensure your tax dollars are being used to better the operation of the volunteer service.
