It is time for our annual Spring Hydrant Flushing! If you are new to LeRoy - the Town and Fire Department coordinate to flush out all of the fire hydrants in town twice per year - in the spring and in the fall.
Why? It is vital to the general maintenance of the water distribution system and helps to ensure water quality. The quick release of water from hydrants can cause a temporary cloudiness or rust-coloured water as mineral deposits get stirred up. Avoiding water usage during hydrant flushing will help. When hydrant flushing is done, you can run some cold water for a few minutes or until your water runs clear.
