October is Community Economic Development Month. Community Economic Development is an essential tool for combating poverty and promoting more inclusive, resilient, and sustainable societies. It is an approach that places communities at the center of solutions, fostering the active participation of their members, empowering vulnerable groups, and creating economic opportunities that transcend generations. In a world where more than 700 million people still live in extreme poverty, the need to promote local and global strategies is more urgent than ever.
Rotary brings together people of all ages and backgrounds who are passionate about serving others, supporting local initiatives, and creating positive change around the world. Whether you want to volunteer, develop new skills, or expand your network, there's a place for you.
Come to a meeting, meet our members, and discover how you can make an impact while having fun along the way. We'd love to welcome you!
Message us to learn more or visit www.rotaryclubofhuntsville.com for more info or come to a meeting. We meet the first and third Wednesday of every month at The Royal Canadian Legion in Huntsville at noon. Together, we can make a difference.

The Rotary Club of Huntsville recently sent two students from Huntsville High School, Susannah Pratt and Anika McKay, to an intensive weekend leadership experience at Muskoka Woods called RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards). At our meeting today they told us what an amazing experience it was. They got to develop their skills as leaders while having fun and making connections. They even got to work on a NASCAR challenge which involved being on a pit crew working on de-comissioned stock cars.
How RYLA benefits youth:
Build communication and problem-solving skills.
Discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in their school or community.
Learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors.
Unlock their potential to turn motivation into action.
Have fun and form lasting friendships.

The Rotary Club of Huntsville and Huntsville Doppler will jointly host a mayoral debate on Thursday, Sept. 17, at the Algonquin Theatre.
The debate, scheduled from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., will give residents an opportunity to hear directly from candidates seeking to become Huntsville’s next mayor.
The debate takes on added importance this election following the Province of Ontario’s expansion of Strong Mayor Powers to Huntsville.
Residents are encouraged to help shape the debate by submitting the questions they most want Huntsville’s mayoral candidates to answer.

Due to time constraints, a committee made up of members of both organizations will select the most pertinent questions for inclusion in the debate.

Submit your question by email to [email protected].

ShelterBox is an international disaster‑relief organization that provides emergency shelter, essential household supplies, and technical assistance to families who have lost their homes due to disaster or conflict.
Funds generated from our annual Internet Auction at the end of November are used in part to fund our World Community Service projects of which Shelter Box is one of our favourites.
For these donations we have received their Silver Hero Award.
We recently donated funds to assist with the disaster relief in Nepal.
