Huntsville Public School

Huntsville Public School Actively preparing today’s learners for tomorrow’s challenges by promoting academic excellence, and providing positive social and cultural experiences.

Huntsville PS is the second largest school in Muskoka. Home to over 500 students, it has both an English and French Immersion track. Huntsville PS is on a Balanced Day schedule. Two nutritional breaks and two recesses break up three instructional blocks of time. The very first school in Huntsville was established in the home of Captain George Hunt on John Street. A two-story frame school was built

in May 1887 – where the current school library sits – and the total cost was $1600. This school was eventually closed and used as Huntsville’s first museum. In 1904, a large three-story structure was built at the corner of Caroline and Centre Street and served as the elementary and secondary school. A separate high school was built in 1950 on Brunel Road. The present Huntsville Public School was constructed in 1967 where the original school was first established. Terms of Use Guidelines
