School Council Meeting tonight!!

You are invited to an after school meeting, which will be held during our School Council Meeting on Monday, February 10th at 5:15 in the HRS Staffroom. The meeting is intended to provide an overview of our current PWPSD priorities and initiatives, and an overview of how we are doing as a school division. We will also ask for your input as we look to set the PWPSD priorities for the next several years.

The meeting will take approximately one hour, and snacks will be provided. We understand that after school hours can be very busy for people for a variety of reasons. If you are unable to attend, and wish to share feedback, a follow up email will be sent out after the event, which will include the presentation and question form for you to complete.

Your voice matters and we hope to see you for some great conversations. If you have any questions, please reach out.

Alberta Education has launched an online survey and discussion guide asking Albertans about what should be included in a new social studies curriculum, which will remain open until October 16, 2023.
Through the fall, the ministry will be meeting with teachers, education partners and other organizations to inform the development of the new scope and sequence for social studies. A draft curriculum document will be released in early 2024 and left open for further public engagement. Piloting will occur throughout the entire next school year with full implementation scheduled for fall 2025.

Our first school council meeting of the new school year is on Wednesday, Oct. 4th at 5PM. Afterwards there is a parent information meeting for general support at 6pm and then a meeting for families of grade 7-9 students interested in the Jasper ski trip. We hope to see you then!

Our grade 6 students are fundraising for their trip to Edmonton. If you have any bottles to recycle, please consider dropping them off at the Hythe Bottle Depot and let them know it's for the HRS Grade 6 trip fund. Your support is greatly appreciated!
