๐Ÿšจ Fire Danger Warning from the Volunteer Fire Department ๐Ÿšจ

Due to extremely dry conditions, the risk of wildfires is very high. Please exercise extreme cautionโ€”avoid open flames, outdoor burning, or any activity that could spark a fire.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Be Prepared:

Have an evacuation plan in place.... is your boat fueled up? Have fresh water on board? Medications ready? Can you take pets?

Know multiple exit routes from your area.

Keep emergency supplies ready (medications, important documents, water, etc.).

Stay informed through local alerts and updates.

Your cooperation can save lives and property. Letโ€™s stay safe together.

The entirety of Nova Scotia is now experiencing extreme drought conditions.

Along with this, Fire Danger is high to very high across the province, with certain sections at extreme danger.

With no rain in the forecast for the next 10-14+ days, this is set to become worse.
Potentially catastrophic drought conditions, and extreme fire danger are likely by mid-week, if current forecasts keep up (which they will).

It is absolutely critical that people do not do any open burning at all (including fireworks). One spark is all it takes.

This is the driest stretch of weather in the last several years for many places in Nova Scotia, and could soon be among the driest stretches ever.

07/31/2025

Because of hot, dry conditions, there is a ban on open fires effective immediately across the entire province.

The ban was put in place today, July 30, and will remain in place until October 15 โ€“ the end of wildfire season โ€“ or until conditions improve. The fine for violating the ban is $25,000.

No fires at ANY time of day
