Missed last night's meeting? Here's a quick recap of highlights:

➡️ Council reviewed the Town’s updated Long-Range Financial Plan, which examines how Innisfil can fund around $2.3 billion in projected infrastructure needs over the next 20 years while keeping tax impacts manageable. Ontario municipalities are challenged by aging infrastructure, escalating construction costs, increasing service demands, and constrained revenue sources. The plan recommends prioritizing and phasing major projects, strengthening reserve policies, maintaining the annual Capital Levy, and strategically using debt financing to ensure continued good financial health.

‼️ This topic generated lots of discussion around the Council table! You can tune in to the conversation starting around 3:10 in the meeting recording. ‼️

➡️ Council approved Innisfil's new town-wide Community Improvement Plan (CIP). The CIP proposes seven financial incentive programs to encourage job creation, redevelopment, and stronger main streets. Implementation will be brought forth for consideration through the Town's 2027/2028 budget process.

➡️ Council received a proposed update to the Town’s Procedural By-law, which sets the rules for Council and Committee meetings. The changes aim to improve meeting efficiency and reflect current legislative requirements, including Ontario's recent Bill 100 (Better Regional Governance Act). Final consideration is scheduled for June 24.

➡️ Council received an update on the 2025–2029 South Simcoe Community Safety and Well-Being Plan. Progress includes stronger coordination of homelessness services, expanded support for youth, improved data-sharing between organizations, and strengthened cross-sector partnerships.

➡️ Council supported a resolution from the Town of Georgina that expresses the need for coordinated action to address the invasive water soldier in Lake Simcoe. The species has spread significantly in Cook’s Bay, prompting concern for lake health, recreation, and local water use. Council is calling for continued collaboration across municipalities and all levels of government to support monitoring, control efforts, and long-term funding to manage its impacts.

🚗 Changes are coming to !

Since 2017, Innisfil Transit has helped residents get around town through our partnership with Uber. As ridership and community needs have evolved, we're updating the system to provide more flexibility and new travel options.

Starting July 1:
🔹 The Town will subsidize up to $10 of your Uber trip after you pay an initial flat fee
🔹 Eligible Uber trips include travel within Innisfil and trips to/from Barrie South GO Station or the newly added Bradford GO Station
🔹 Groups of 2–4 riders can travel together using a Multi-passenger Voucher
🔹 Teens can access up to 10 subsidized trips per month through the Teen Transit Pilot
🔹 Transit Hubs will be retired

We know change can bring questions. Visit innisfil.ca/transit to learn how the new system works, download a Multi-passenger Voucher, and see what these updates mean for your trips.

Our Fire Danger Rating is back for the season to help keep our community informed and safe.

The Fire Danger Rating is a system used to show how easily fires can start and spread based on current conditions like temperature, wind, and how dry the ground and vegetation are. It helps guide safe burning practices across Innisfil.
