Inuvik Native Band Elects Robert Charlie as Chief

Good evening, Inuvik. The Inuvik Native Band election results are in! Robert Charlie has been re-elected as Chief, earning a resounding victory by 65-47 votes.

Congratulations to Chief Charlie! While our electronic voting system generally performed well, a temporary technical glitch affected a couple individuals. We proactively provided paper ballots to ensure everyone's vote was counted. These paper ballots will be included in the official report, and we thank all those involved for their patience and understanding.

Good evening INB members,

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We apologize for the delay. We are now moving forward with the upcoming election.

Position Available:
- Chief (Only one position open)
- Candidates:
1. Robert Charlie
2. Barry Greenland

Nomination for Council Members:
- We received one nomination: Bernice Furlong, who will be acclaimed.
- There are five vacant seats for council members.

**Important Meeting:**
A special meeting is scheduled for Monday, August 18, 2025, at 5:30 PM at Inuvik Native Band. During this meeting, INB members will discuss the election process and next steps.

Election Details:
- According to policy (Section 19.2), the Chief and at least three Councillors will be filled by election.
- If this requirement is not met, a special INB member meeting will be convened immediately to determine subsequent steps. The Band Administrator will facilitate this process.

Voting Information:
- Online Voting: Opens tomorrow. We will post the link once it's live.
- Deadline: Thursday, August 14th, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
- In-Person Voting: Will be conducted using electronic tablets on Friday, August 15th, 2025, at 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Ingamo Hall, Inuvik, NT.
