βœ… Update | Flood Watch Downgraded for Invermere Area

Good news for our area. The BC River Forecast Centre has downgraded the Flood Watch for the East Kootenay, including the Fairmont Hot Springs and surrounding areas, to a High Streamflow Advisory.

This means the most serious flood risk has passed, but rivers are still running high and conditions remain active. Please continue to use caution near waterways.

What this means locally:
🌊 River levels are elevated but major flooding is no longer expected
🚫 Stay away from riverbanks, which can still be unstable
πŸš— Never drive through floodwater

The sandbag station at the Windermere Fire Hall remains available if you still need it.

We will continue to monitor conditions and share updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience and preparedness this weekend, Invermere. πŸ’™

June is a meaningful month across Canada as we recognize National Indigenous History Month and the beginning of Pride Season.

This month is an opportunity to learn about, reflect on, and honour the histories, cultures, traditions, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and MΓ©tis Peoples, while also celebrating the diversity and contributions of 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.

At the District of Invermere we are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community where everyone feels respected, valued, and connected.

In Invermere, there are a couple of great ways to take part locally.
Columbia Valley Pride, Pride in the Park takes place June 13th from 12:00pm – 4:00 pm in Pothole Park.

This free, all ages event includes live performances, vendors, games, a community BBQ, glitter stations, and a Puppy Parade at 12:30 pm.

Join Κ”akisqnuk First Nation at Lakeshore Campground on June 18th from 5:00pm – 7:00 pm for a National Indigenous Peoples Month celebration featuring dinner, drumming, a hide tanning display, moccasin demo, and outdoor games.

Happy National Indigenous History Month and Happy Pride Season, Invermere.
