living in Nunavut. NDMS is Nunavut’s only cross-disability organization. We support

Each October, communities across Canada recognize Disability Employment
Awareness Month. This month engages, educates, and raises awareness about
inclusive employment while promoting and celebrating the contributions of persons with
disabilities. It also highlights the importance of physically accessible environments,
equal opportunities, and the protection of rights for people with disabilities.
In 2024, the Government of Nunavut declared October as Disability Employment
Awareness Month to reaffirm its commitment to inclusive workplaces and employment
equity. This observance continues to represent an important step toward fostering
inclusive communities and supporting individuals to realize their full potential.
Through partnership with the Nunavummi Disabilities Makinnasuaqtiit Society, the
Department of Family Services remains committed to advancing the full participation of
individuals with disabilities in all aspects of life.
