Day 1 of NAM’s Annual AGM Conference kicked off today in ❄️

We began the morning with a Qulliq lighting ceremony led by an Elder, followed by a heartfelt speech that set a powerful and respectful tone for the day. The room was then brought together in reflection as we observed a Remembrance Day tribute, honouring those who have served and continue to serve our country.

The rest of the day was filled with inspiring keynote speeches and presentations that left members energized for what’s ahead.

Key topics such as housing, food security, and Arctic sovereignty guided many of today’s discussions all deeply connected to NAM’s three pillars: Advocacy, Collaboration, and Capacity Building.

Day 1 reminded us not only of where we’ve come from, but of the shared vision and determination that will guide Nunavut’s future.

Today we kick off the 2025 NAM Annual General Meeting & Conference, bringing together mayors, councillors, and community leaders from every region of Nunavut.

This year’s theme — “Qanuqtuurniq: Resilient by Nature, Innovative by Choice” celebrates the northern spirit that defines us. It’s about finding creative, made in Nunavut solutions to the challenges we face every day, while staying grounded in the strength of our people and communities.

Over the next few days, we’ll share stories, highlight speakers, and showcase the incredible work happening across our territory. Stay tuned, the conversations that start here will help shape Nunavut’s future. 💪🏽❄️
