🔔 Aqua 7 Water Update 💧

The Town of Irricana has been made aware of rising turbidity levels in the Aqua 7 transmission line due to a system shutdown at the Kneehill plant. This may result in some temporary water discolouration over the next few days.

Our water is tested daily and is still safe for consumption and normal use. Aqua 7 is investigating the cause of the system shutting down. Learn more: https://ow.ly/Apaw50ZIsaF

ℹ️ Frequently Asked Questions:

❓Why does my tap water look yellow or discoloured?
✔️This is typically caused by minor sediment and naturally occurring minerals, such as manganese, being stirred up in the system during maintenance and repair work. Manganese is a naturally occurring mineral that can sometimes cause water to appear yellow, brown, or slightly cloudy when it is disturbed in the system. In this situation, there are no water quality concerns, and the issue is related to clarity rather than safety.

❓Is the water safe to use?
✔️Yes. The water remains safe for normal use and consumption. It continues to be treated and tested through the regional water system, with additional treatment and monitoring taking place locally.

❓How long will the discolouration last?
✔️The yellowing is expected to be temporary and may continue over the next several days while the system clears and stabilizes following the repairs.

❓Does discoloured water mean there is a boil water advisory?
✔️No. Temporary yellowing or discolouration does not mean there is a boil water advisory in effect. The water remains safe, and no additional precautions are required at this time.
