Kamloops Fire Rescue is the second oldest established fire department in British Columbia, Canada. Kamloops Fire Rescue service a population of approximately 85 000 covering an area of 311 sq km (120 sq m). Kamloops Fire Rescue consists of have 7 fire halls. 4 paid halls, 2 paid on call (auxiliary), and 1 combination. Full time/paid staff: Total of 130

Our crew had an amazing time celebrating alongside community members, families, and friends. We are committed to serving and supporting everyone in our community, and events like Pride are a wonderful opportunity to connect, celebrate inclusion, and show that everyone belongs.

Tonight, June 2nd 2026 KFR crews responded to reports of 6 kids who had tipped their canoe and were in the Thompson River. Luckily they were wearing their life jackets. They had a Good Samaritan stop in to help them and make sure they were safe. With River levels high and the water cold we highly recommend everyone stay safe and be vigilant around the water.

Kamloops Fire Rescue crews had a great little rescue on May 11, 2026, after Station 7 responded to a public service call for 8 ducklings trapped inside a storm drain.

With momma duck nearby keeping a close watch, crews safely rescued all 8 ducklings and reunited them back where they belong.

A happy ending for this feathered family! 🦆🚒

This video portrays the Fine Fuel Moisture Code for the Province of British Columbia, it shows the dryness of light flashy fuels on the surface on the forest floor. KFR and BC Wildfire Service have been closely monitoring the situation. With the unseasonably warm temperatures coming this weekend it’s only going to get worse. Currently the drought code is moderate. We want to remind the residents of Kamloops burning permits have ended, there is zero burning allowed in the City of Kamloops. Please enjoy the backcountry but be mindful of the conditions. If you see smoke call 911.

This province-wide contest invites elementary classrooms across BC to explore wildfire resilience through the FireSmart BC Education Program. It’s a fun, effective way for students to learn about wildfire science and resilience.

If you’re an educator, here’s how to enter:

1️⃣ Choose a lesson plan online.
2️⃣ Conduct the lesson activity.
3️⃣ Capture the moment with a photo.
4️⃣ Submit your entry online at the link below.

The contest runs from April 20 to May 15, 2026, and winners will be announced via a random draw on May 22.
