Councillor Mike O’Reilly’s public claim that Mayor Reid Hamer-Jackson never informed him that he would be absent from the meeting is deeply concerning. Mayor Hamer-Jackson has text messages that appear to demonstrate that notice was sent before the meeting. At the very least, this directly contradicts Mr. O’Reilly’s version of events and requires a clear public explanation—not more political rhetoric. This is especially important now that Mr. O’Reilly is seeking to replace Hamer-Jackson as mayor.

An election is ultimately about trust: voters must be able to rely on a candidate to present facts fairly and accurately, even when those facts involve a political opponent. If Mr. O’Reilly overlooked the messages, he should acknowledge his mistake and correct the public record. If he received the messages and nevertheless continued claiming that no notice was given, that would raise far more serious questions about his judgment, credibility and fitness to lead. Someone asking the people of Kamloops to trust him with the mayor’s office must first demonstrate that he can be trusted to tell the complete truth.

Some very strong words against the mayor. Feedback y'all?. Who attended the meeting? Is this a fair feedback?

A new independent website has been launched to help Kamloops residents understand and respond to the current Alternative Approval Processes (AAPs), which begin today.

The site provides:
• Access to official documents and reports
• A clear outline of timelines and deadlines
• A structured way to generate an elector response using the City’s format

It is not affiliated with the City of Kamloops. All submissions are delivered to the City, which determines their validity.

For those unfamiliar, the AAP allows certain decisions (such as borrowing) to proceed unless at least 10% of eligible electors submit responses opposing the proposal.

You can access the site here:
https://kamloopsaap.ca

If you plan to participate, it’s worth reviewing the process and deadlines carefully.

This service assists with completion of official AAP response forms.
