As a Rutland resident I'm tired of getting scraps. When it comes to infrastructure spending the money is going elsewhere. $500 million for the Parkinson Recreation Center that does not service Rutland yet $8.2 million for our sports fields is too much. Frankly everyone should be upset. These are our recreation fields and frankly they've been ignored for far too long. Sports fields with no change rooms, no permanent bathrooms and NO parking. And the plan keeps getting smaller. Catch the 2 minute interview on Global News Okanagan January 21st. Good thing that's all the time we had, I don't think the city of Kelowna wants my full google review.

I am thrilled to announce that the 2025 Spring Community Clean-Up was a huge success. About 50 volunteers joined, including members from the Rutland Resident Association, our MP Tracy Gray and her team, our MLA Gavin Dew, our Mayor Tom Days showed up for support even though he's still on the injured list, counselor Ron Cannon and our community of course. Thanks again to Pavneet Singh and One Stop for the snacks and drinks afterwards.
Together we gathered over 50 bags of garbage, 3 chairs, a table,3 bike tires, old metal, discarded cardboard, a vacuum, laundry basket, a stroller, some carpet, a dog bed, old metal, clothing, a mirror closet door, and over 30 needles. Thank to you to everyone to helped out.

We almost added a new family member this week, I just needed bigger pockets or a raincoat to hide him. He was so was so quiet no one knew he was there. A member brought this 8 week old pup to a meeting in her jacket.

Another accident on the corner of McCurdy and Knorr Rd. This fellow drove though garbage cans, a tree, sign, telephone pole and a fence before stopping. I hope the driver is ok.

Power is out for a handful of homes in Rutland Wednesday after a vehicle took out a power pole on McCurdy Road.

Power is out for a handful of homes in Rutland Wednesday after a vehicle took out a power pole on McCurdy Road.

In Castanet:
One of the first people on scene, Christopher Bocskei, says the vehicle crashed into some garbage cans, the pole, several trees and a fence before coming to a stop.

Bocskei, a former first responder who lives nearby, rushed to help the driver – a man he believed to be in his sixties. He said the man continued to rev the engine until Bocskei shut the vehicle off, and the driver was unable to respond to any of Bocskei's questions.

I hope the driver is going to be ok.

I am so proud to be selected for West Coast Seeds blog. I even like the picture, which is hard for me. They have been generously donating seeds for the Rutland Elementary School Garden since before my time. Without them, I'm not sure the program would exist. Thank you West Coast Seeds.

There are few things I have done that I am proud of. This is one of those ones that brings tears to me eyes.

I had an opportunity to "ring-the-bell" for the Salvation Army at the Prospera Place Craft Show and look who I should bump into, our honorable mayor Tom Dyas. There are still opportunities to volunteer this season for those interested.

In the news at Castanet.

"A group of community volunteers got together recently to help clean up Kelowna's streets and parks.

Cleanup organizer Christopher Bocskei tells Castanet he started the initiative in the Rutland area in 2021.

"I volunteered at an elementary school garden and I saw some kids coming out of the park. A group of them came up and said they found some dangerous stuff where people had been camping. I looked and saw needles and other stuff there and I thought someone needs to take control of this," said Bocskei.

Since that time, he has organized a clean up twice a year in spring and fall to help keep Kelowna and specifically Rutland clean.

This week a group of volunteers including local politicians, MP Tracy Gray and her family, MLA Norm Letnick, and Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas all helped collect over 25 bags of garbage and filled 2 sharps bins."

Just a quick, "I'm still here". I continue to meet supporters in public that are encouraging me to run for city council again. I am considering it. Thank you for everyone's support.
