Growing up gay, resilience wasn’t something I set out to learn.

It was something I had to develop.

Like many people in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community, I learned early what it felt like to question whether I belonged.

That experience shaped me.
It taught me empathy.
It taught me courage.
It taught me that the strongest communities are not those that simply tolerate differences, but those where people genuinely feel they belong.

Working within government has reinforced that lesson for me. Many of the systems are built without everyone in mind. Real change often means questioning long-standing assumptions, having difficult conversations, and ensuring everyone is respected. It’s hard work, and necessary.

Pride is a celebration of how far we’ve come.

It is also a reminder that the work continues.

Across Canada and around the world, 2SLGBTQIA+ people are still targeted, excluded, discriminated against.

That’s why Pride still matters.

This month, I celebrate those who came before us, the progress we’ve made, and the next generation growing up knowing they can be exactly who they are.

Happy Pride Month. 🌈

Grateful. Truly. 🥉

Honoured to be recognized in this category my entire elected life.

Public service is never about one person. It reflects an entire community of people who care deeply about making the Central Okanagan stronger and more connected.

To the local businesses, non-profits, volunteers, community advocates, and residents who show up every day — thank you.

I also want to acknowledge the two incredible people alongside me in this category.

Stephen Fuhr CD — I’m proud of the work you’re doing to strengthen Canada’s defence and serve our nation during an increasingly uncertain time.

Maxine DeHart — your endless energy and commitment to celebrating this community is something truly special. Kelowna would not be the same without you.

This work is about improving lives, building trust, and leaving things better than we found them. I’m humbled to play a small role in that work alongside so many remarkable people.

Thank you, Kelowna.

Building economic resilience means meeting the moment.

Today, I had the opportunity to chair a special forum through the Central Okanagan Economic Development Commission focused on the future of Canada’s defence sector to hear an update from Stephen Fuhr CD, Secretary of State for Defence Procurement. We heard what his work building a new ministry is all about and what it could mean for innovation, local businesses, and regional growth here in the Central Okanagan.

Strong economies are built through partnerships, strategy, and being ready for where opportunity is heading next.

Some investments don’t just improve infrastructure, they improve connection. 🌿

Proud to reopen the City Park waterfront walkway ahead of a busy summer season — creating safer, more accessible space for people to gather, move, and enjoy one of Kelowna’s most iconic public spaces. ☀️🚶‍♂️🚴‍♀️

Public spaces do more than beautify a city — they build social capital.

That’s the trust, relationships, and sense of belonging created when people gather, connect, and share community together.

That’s why I care so deeply about investments like the City Park pathway upgrades. These spaces aren’t extras — they’re part of the social infrastructure that shapes healthy, connected, resilient communities.

Proud to celebrate the reopening of one of Kelowna’s most iconic gathering spaces ahead of a busy long weekend and the Memorial Cup. 🌿🌊🚲

Direct to Ottawa. ✈️🇨🇦

I welcomed the inaugural Porter Airlines flight from Ottawa to Kelowna alongside Mayor Tom Dyas — and passengers were already talking about what this route changes for them.

No missed winter connections. No lost luggage or eyeglasses during layovers. Just a direct path to the Okanagan. 🍷☀️

For many onboard, it was their very first visit to Kelowna.

Big win for tourism, business, and better connections to our region. Well done and our team at

Short Term Rentals return June 1!

We’ve worked hard with the provincial government to protect long term housing and offer a Made in Kelowna solution for Short Term Rentals.

You will need to apply for a license through the city and register with the province - and that process can start now.

Collaboration is key for shred priorities.
