Meet Marianna Pezzoli - La Scuola Italiana Instructor

Born and raised in Milan, Italy, I have been lucky to call both Italy and Canada home. I moved to Kelowna in 2015 with my family and have loved being part of the Okanagan community ever since.
My love for Italian language and culture has always been a big part of who I am. When the Italian language school at the Kelowna Canadian Italian Club was brought back to life, I was excited to be part of that journey and to teach Italian to members of our community.
For me, teaching Italian is about much more than learning grammar and vocabulary. It is about discovering Italy through its language, food, music, art, history, traditions, and, above all, its people. I love sharing the Italy I know and love and helping students feel connected to the culture, whether they are learning Italian for the first time, reconnecting with their heritage, or simply dreaming of their next trip to Italy!
I have a degree in Political Science and International Affairs from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore in Milan, as well as a diploma in International Affairs from ISPI and a Business Diploma from Okanagan College. Before moving to Canada, I worked in business, communications, and public administration, including serving as Mayor of a small village in the Italian Alps.
I am also a proud mother of three, and I believe that learning a language is one of the best ways to open a door to another culture.
I look forward to sharing my passion for Italy with you and, hopefully, making your Italian journey both enjoyable and meaningful!

Quick Update- Just learned we'll be on CBC Radio tomorrow morning (Tuesday) at 8:13 am to talk about the documentary with Joseph Otoo. Catch us there and then join us in the evening for the showing!

Just a quick reminder - this Tuesday at 7 pm is our repeat screening of our original documentary, Su Terra Familiare at Mary Irwin Theatre in the Rotary Centre for the Arts. Two months ago, the story touched the hearts of everyone who came - the story of resilience, courage and cultural preservation written by the Italians who made Kelowna home. If you're Italian - or even if you're not - you'll find that this is something that rings true for every immigrant, finding familiar ground in a new land. The documentary captures the first hand accounts of those that came and helped build the city we love. If you'd like to share this experience in a beautiful theatre with your friends or family, this is your opportunity! Tickets still available at the door at Rotary Centre or online at https://www.theboxoffice.ca/upcoming-events/su-terra-familiare-film-screening. A presto!

It's coming back for a second showing. Our original documentary - Su Terra Familiare - will be shown Tuesday, August 25th at the Mary Irwin Theatre. This documentary explores the story of Kelowna's Italian Community, how immigrants found familiar ground and what it was like growing up Italian in the Okanagan. It touched the hearts of all who attended the premiere on June 25th. Join us for this evening of celebration and reminiscing. The ticket link is on our website - https://www.kelownaitalianclub.com/legacyhome.html
