We were thrilled to welcome approximately 110 job seekers and 4 local employers for a day filled with conversations, connections, and opportunities. Events like these help bring people together and strengthen our local workforce.

SUCCESS STORY 🎉

After being laid off from his full-time job, Jeffrey came to WorkBC Kelowna ready to embrace a new chapter. Despite facing significant barriers, including limited computer skills, an outdated resume, and physical challenges, he remained determined to move forward. With the guidance of his Employment Consultant, Purnoor, Jeffrey began rebuilding his confidence and skill set.

To start, Jeffrey focused on building the skills he needed to re-enter the workforce. Through in-centre training and personalized support, he improved his computer skills, refreshed his resume and cover letter and established an online presence to support his job search. Each step helped him move closer to his employment goals. He also strengthened his interview skills through coaching and practice, helping him prepare for success in today’s job market.

Jeffrey’s commitment and perseverance paid off. After support with job searching, applications, and networking strategies, he successfully secured full-time employment as a Shipper Receiver with Trail Appliances. Reflecting on his journey, Jeffrey shared that WorkBC’s services were “beyond helpful,” highlighting the impact of compassionate, tailored support. His story is a reminder that with the right resources and encouragement, barriers can be overcome and new opportunities can flourish, no matter where you start.

“Success to me is being able to maintain full-time work with job stability, be happy with what I do, and be financially comfortable.”
