What a wonderful morning serving alongside the Kelowna Fire Department at their annual Pancake Breakfast and Burn Fund fundraiser.

Thank you to everyone who came out in support of fire safety education, the Burn Fund, and our local firefighters. We were honoured to have our Emergency Disaster Services team and volunteers be part of this incredible community event.

🧡 National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Canada

On September 30, we honour the children who never returned home, the Survivors of residential schools, and the families and communities who continue to carry the impacts of this history.
Today is a time to listen, learn, reflect, and recognize the ongoing journey toward truth and reconciliation.

We encourage our community to take time to learn about Indigenous histories, cultures, and perspectives, and to consider how each of us can contribute to a more respectful and inclusive future.

We acknowledge that we live, work, and serve on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the syilx/Okanagan People.

A heartfelt thank you to Solis Optics, a valued partner of Wink i Wear, for helping make a difference for local children and families through our Hope 4 Kids Summer Campaign!

By hosting a Salvation Army kettle in their Kelowna store, Solis Optics and their generous customers helped raise more than $2,000, supporting local children and youth through programs, opportunities, and experiences that build confidence, belonging, and hope.

We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Emily Johnston, Manager, Marissa Dunn, Optical Associate, and Sabreen Dulay, Optical Associate, whose enthusiasm and support helped make this partnership such a success.

🎉 What an incredible summer! 🎉

Thanks to the generosity of our community, The Salvation Army Okanagan Central's 2026 Hope 4 Kids Summer Campaign raised more than $132,000, surpassing our goal of $125,000!

From July through August, donors, volunteers, local businesses, and community partners came together to help ensure local children and youth can access opportunities that help them learn, grow, and thrive. Funds raised will support things like summer camps, sports, swimming lessons, counselling, tutoring, arts programs, and more.
Because of your support, children will build confidence, create lasting memories, discover new interests, and experience opportunities that may have otherwise been out of reach.

To every donor, volunteer, sponsor, and supporter who helped make Hope 4 Kids a success: thank you for investing in the lives of local children and youth. Your generosity is creating real impact and real hope. ❤️

A heartfelt thank you to the residents of Wedgewood for their generous donation of school supplies. Through the support of caring community members like you, The Salvation Army was able to provide backpacks, notebooks, pencils, and other essential supplies to local families who may otherwise struggle with the cost of heading back to school. Your kindness is helping children in our community start the school year prepared and ready to learn. Thank you for making a difference!

Thank You, Okanagan! ❤️

The Salvation Army Okanagan Central would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our incredible community for supporting evacuees and firefighters during the Bradley Creek, Quilpituk and Bald Range wildfires that impacted communities across our region.

Thanks to your generosity, we were able to deploy our Emergency Disaster Services team and work alongside so many individuals, businesses, churches, organizations, and volunteers who stepped up to help during a difficult time.

During the initial response phase, The Salvation Army provided more than 5,000 meals and snacks to evacuees and distributed over $75,000 in practical assistance, including emergency relief supports, gas and grocery gift cards, clothing, hygiene products, and other essential items. Volunteers also contributed more than 500 hours of service throughout the emergency response.

This work would not have been possible without the generosity of local businesses, restaurants, churches, elected officials, community groups, volunteers, staff, and countless caring individuals who came together to support those in need.

In the face of adversity, you demonstrated the compassion, generosity, and resilience that make the Okanagan such a remarkable place to call home.

Thank you for caring for your neighbours and showing what community truly means.

❤️ 36 years of service. 21 years in the Central Okanagan. Countless lives impacted.

Today is a very special—and bittersweet—day as we celebrate the retirement of Donna Thibideau, after an incredible 36 years with The Salvation Army, including 21 years serving right here in the Central Okanagan.

It’s hard to capture the impact of those years in just a few words. Donna has been one of those people who has helped keep so much moving—often quietly behind the scenes. She has supported leaders, staff and volunteers, cared deeply for the people we serve, built strong relationships throughout our community, and faithfully lived out the mission of The Salvation Army.

For more than two decades, Donna has been part of the fabric of The Salvation Army in the Central Okanagan. Her fingerprints are on so much of what has been built here, but her greatest legacy is found in the people she has cared for and encouraged along the way.

Donna, thank you for your faithful service, your heart, your wisdom, your laughter and the love you have brought to this ministry.

And now, after 36 years with The Salvation Army, Donna is stepping into a very important new full-time role—Grandma! ❤️ We have a feeling it might just be her favourite one yet.

Today we celebrate YOU, Donna, and send you into this next chapter with enormous gratitude and every blessing. You have certainly earned it! 🎉
