Stage 2 water restrictions are in effect, but you can still help keep Kelowna’s trees healthy and resilient.

Trees provide shade, cool our neighbourhoods and help our community adapt to hotter, drier summers. With a little care, they can continue to thrive through the heat.

✔️Hand water trees three days a week on your designated watering days
✔️Water deeply at the base of the tree
✔️Water in the early morning or late evening

Noticing yellow or brown leaves? Trees can show signs of stress from prolonged heat and smoky conditions. Extra watering isn’t always the answer. Consistent care and hand watering within Stage 2 restrictions is the best way to support tree health.

Trees are a long-term investment in Kelowna's urban canopy and require ongoing care to survive prolonged drought conditions. Allowing mature trees to die would result in significant replacement costs and the loss of environmental benefits such as shade, cooling, air quality improvement and habitat.

A bigger stage for sport and community could be coming to the Apple Bowl!

For more than 40 years, the Apple Bowl has been a place where athletes compete, families cheer and our community comes together. Now the City is exploring a proposed modernization that would expand year-round community use, improve the experience for athletes and visitors, and help attract regional and national events.

The concept includes additional seating, upgraded amenities, a new scoreboard, artificial turf and enhanced event capabilities, while supporting the future growth of sport and recreation in Kelowna.

The vision could also position the Apple Bowl as a potential home for a Canadian Premier League club by 2028, creating new opportunities for local athletes, fans and businesses.

With Stage 2 water restrictions in effect, it's never been more important to ensure every drop counts. 💧

Consider making the switch to native and drought-tolerant plants. Not only are they beautiful but they are adapted to our hot and dry climate. The City is making this switch in all new parks and new plantings. 🌻
