Kelowna's Gospel Mission KGM is a multi-service social agency that reaches out to people experiencing homelessness and povert

Kelowna’s Gospel Mission was founded in 1977 by a handful of students from the Okanagan Bible School. They all shared one thing--the desire to reach out to Kelowna’s impoverished population with love, faith and support. For over 40 years, KGM has continued to grow, driving change and meeting needs in our community. Today we offer nutritious meals, emergency shelter for both men and women, a dental clinic for low-income patients, a thrift store, and more. Please join us in turning homelessness into wholeness today.

Looking for something fun to do with the family this Saturday?

A little reminder that the Fall Festival at Elysium Gardens is happening this Saturday, October 24!

There’s lots to enjoy, including pumpkin picking, a sunflower maze, dinosaurs, old cars and more. 🌻

Proceeds from October 24 will be donated to Kelowna’s Gospel Mission and will help support programs and services for people experiencing homelessness in our community.

We’ll be there too, and we’d love to see you! Don’t miss this fun fall day. Bring the family and come join us.

💛 What a special milestone! We're celebrating 22 years with Sonja!

Sonja, our Recruitment Manager of Volunteers, People and Culture, has been part of the Kelowna's Gospel Mission family for 22 years!

Over the years, Sonja has met so many people, listened to their stories, and been part of many meaningful moments.

When we asked Sonja what these 22 years have meant to her, here's what she shared:

"I feel grateful and privileged that I have been a part of this important work in our community. I've met many people over the years who've stayed at KGM. Countless people have let me know how much KGM has meant to them and how their lives were saved because of the services we provide. The day-to-day conversations with our residents never fail to warm my heart. There have been plenty of tears too. The work that KGM does matters deeply. The time has flown by. I'm proud to be a part of KGM."

Sonja, thank you for 22 years of dedication, the care you've shown, and the relationships you've built along the way. We're so grateful to have you as part of our KGM family!

Thanksgiving is a time to appreciate the people around us and the kindness that brings our community together.

We’re so grateful for our donors, volunteers, staff, and everyone who helps us share warmth, kindness, and care with our neighbours, especially those going through difficult times.

When our community comes together, wonderful things happen!

Did you know that Metro Community’s Shelter Diversion Program has helped 175 people find housing over the past two years? That's 175 people taking an important step toward stability and a new beginning.

On October 23, our friends at MetroCommunity are hosting their Come Together Gala, an evening of good food, laughter, and connection, all for a meaningful cause!

The funds raised will help Metro reach more people in our community, connecting them with housing support, essential services, and the care they need.

We're grateful for the important work Metro does in our community and happy to help spread the word about this special event!

While their team has been training, they’ve been generously sharing the food they prepare with Kelowna’s Gospel Mission.

September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It’s a day to remember the indigenous children taken from their homes and placed in residential schools and to honour the survivors, their families, and their communities.

We recognize that one of the legacies of this country’s engagement with our indigenous people is their over-representation amongst people experiencing homelessness. This is true in our own city as it is across the country. You cannot say you want to address homelessness without also standing alongside those disproportionately affected by it.

Kelowna's Gospel Mission carries on its work on the traditional, unceded lands of the Syilx/Okanagan people.⁠ And as we continue on our own journey of truth and reconciliation, we are grateful for the lives of our Indigenous brothers and sisters whose resilience, tenacity, and posture serve as a constant reminder that we are better when we come together.⁠

We encourage you to lean into the events being offered around town and learn about the culture and history of the Syilx/Okanagan people we live alongside.

Meet Grace

If you’ve met Grace, you know how much care she brings into every conversation.

Grace is our Spiritual Care & Community Engagement Coordinator at Kelowna’s Gospel Mission. A big part of her work is simply being there for people. Listening, connecting, and creating space for some of the harder conversations in life.

As Grace puts it: “The Spiritual Care team is present in all KGM shelters and outreach, and are there to address the fact that a human’s needs go beyond food and shelter.”

And through all of it, Grace continues to see hope. “I have always said that the homeless sector is the most hopeful work I have ever had the pleasure of doing.”

That hope is something she carries with her every day, and perhaps she says it best: “It can always get better.”

We’re so grateful for Grace and the care she brings to our shelters, outreach, and community.

Last week, we got a perfect day for it. Our golfers brought great energy, and the Charity Golf Classic came together beautifully. ⛳

Last year, 2,635 visits were made to the Dental Clinic at Kelowna's Gospel Mission.

That's more than 50 visits every week, including seniors, children, and people who may have gone without care because the cost of regular dental treatment was out of reach.

A painful tooth finally treated.
A smile someone feels comfortable sharing again.
A little less worry about the cost of getting care.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, more people can get the care they have been putting off. Because dental care is about more than teeth. It can change how you eat, how you sleep, and how you feel walking into a room.
