💧 CUSTOM WATER SYSTEM INSTALL — OSOYOOS, BC
Not every home needs the same water treatment system — and this Osoyoos installation is a perfect example.
These homeowners wanted a solution that did more than simply soften their water, so we custom-built their LiveSmart system specifically to handle hardness while also providing treatment for iron and manganese.
That’s especially relevant in Osoyoos right now. The Town currently has a Water Quality Advisory in effect for elevated manganese, with recent levels reported between 0.125 and 0.159 mg/L.
The installation itself definitely wasn’t a typical basement job.
The main water line was located inside a crawl space that was only about 3 feet high, so we had to do some custom plumbing to make the system practical to own and service long-term.
We installed a 20” whole-home carbon/sediment filter and built a dedicated bypass arrangement that places the filter right near the crawl-space entrance. That means when the cartridge eventually needs to be changed, there’s no need to crawl all the way underneath the home just to service it.
That filter gives them another layer of protection against sediment and discolouration, while the carbon component helps reduce chlorine, taste and odour.
Osoyoos also has notably hard municipal water. Town testing has shown hardness readings around 291–318 mg/L as CaCO₃ at some wells, which works out to roughly 17–19 grains per gallon.
To finish the package, we also installed an under-sink reverse osmosis drinking-water system for their kitchen. (RO system not pictured.)
