As per Bylaw No.174-08 A Bylaw to Control and License Cats and Dogs, there are certain types of dogs that are NOT ALLOWED within the Town of Kelvington.

The entirety of the Bylaw is attached for your reference and can be viewed or printed at the Town Office if you would like a paper copy.

It has come to our attention that there are a few residents that own or are in possession of a "prohibited breed".

(g) Prohibited Dog" shall mean:
(i) Pit Bull Terrier; or
(ii) American Pit Bull Terrier; or
(iii) Pit Bull; or
(iv) any dog of mixed breeding, identified as a dog of a partial
mix of any of the above indicated breeds or kinds.

As stated on the second page of the Bylaw:
(c) No person shall own, possess, or harbour a prohibited dog within the boundaries of the Town of Kelvington.

(d) Any person who contravenes Subsection (c) is guilty of an offence and liable to a fine of $500.00.

Good afternoon!

TOMORROW, Wednesday May 27th from 11:30am-12:30pm, the students from Kelvington School will be out and about helping clean up garbage in our community.

We can all do our part in making sure that we are being responsible and putting our own garbage and recycle in the bins.

*IMPORTANT*

Dog and Cat licenses were due on Jan 1, 2026.

Past due notices were sent out to those on file who have not yet paid for a dog or cat license for 2026.

Anyone who has not yet paid by Friday, May 29th at 4:00pm will be subject to a $250 fine for each cat or dog that is not licensed, as a "failure to license fee", as stated in Schedule No. 4 (a) of the Bylaw No. 174-08.

"Failure to license fees" invoices will be mailed out at the beginning of next week.

Please see the attached Bylaw for your reference, as well as the fee schedule on the last page that also includes cats or dogs at large, and failure to be responsible for picking up your animal's f***s in both public and private property within the Town of Kelvington.

If accounts are outstanding, you risk having your water shut off and then unfortunately there are extra fees associated with turning it back on. It's beneficial to keep your account up to date.
