Last night 9 members attended our weekly training! 🔥

🚨Training began with debriefing our recent calls which lead to some decisions for improving safety measures to our New Units top hose bed. A aluminum wind guard was installed (which you can see in the first photo) to the top hose bed and measurements were taken for a custom cargo net install.

🚨You may see that our Old Faithful Yellow Dodge Pumper will be back in service. This is for coverage while Unit 3s independent diesel pump is out of service for a short time for general maintenance now that harvest season is concluded.

🚨We then pressure tested the hose involved in Mondays incident to insure its integrity for future use and members received ongoing pump ops training on the new unit.

It was a busy training night, working together as a team to brainstorm and execute ways to improve the safety of our apparatus, emergency response and skills.

🚨KFD leadership is very proud to represent this department. We are made up of individuals with diverse backgrounds of knowledge and experience. Everyone brings something valuable to the team, we work together and with our mutual aid departments professionally and are always discussing ways to improve as individuals and as a team!

🔥Between calls and planning our December 12th Fundraiser we are still meeting weekly on Thursdays at 7pm!

The last few weeks we have...
🚨 Welcomed our newest recruit Aaron Biberdorf to the department!
🚨 Did a mock ditch fire call out during harvest
🚨 Reorganized Rescue Unit 4 and inspected our extrication equipment
🚨Our Breathing Air Bottle filling station passed its air quality control testing, allowing us to freely train on SCBA with unlimited access to breathing air!
🚨 Introduced our new recruit to SCBA and members practiced Search & Rescue Techniques!

2026 currently has us at a record high call volumes including Fire, Rescue and Medical.

We could not provide the emergency services we do without the generosity of our community and the commitment from our members 🔥

Yesterday at 4:38pm Kenaston Volunteer Fire Department was toned out for Mutual Aid to Davidson Volunteer Fire Department for a Truck & Trailer Fire involving a load of tires.

KFD responded with a total of 11 members and 3 units.

Upon arrival we recieved a call that our Unit 2 Engine lost equipment off the truck just south of Kenaston and a vehicle was involved. However upon investigation by multiple department members, thankfully no accident was found and our hose lays & roof ladder were safely removed from the highway. 3 members then left scene to retreive equipment.

Remaining members remained on scene, provided water support, donned SCBA and worked hose lines along aside our neighbors to the south.

At 7pm, 3 KFD members were released from scene to return to the hall with Unit 2 to inspect equipment and repack hose lines that were lost while responding.

4 members remained on scene with 2 units for continued mutual aid support and at 10pm 1 member responded with rescue Unit 4 with additional equipment.

At 1:30am KFD was released from scene after the fire was fully extinguished. 5 remaining members returned to Kenaston, Fueled trucks and completed clean up and decon of equipment, which will continue thru the next few days of washing gear, drying hoses ect.

All units back in service at 2:36am.

We are extremely thankful no one was hurt during what could have been a serious incident involving our loss of equipment. We will spend Thursdays practice debriefing, investigating the cause of this event and adding additional safety measures to our top hose bed to inhibit an incident like this from happening in the future.

Thank you to Davidson Fire Department & EMS, we are grateful for our mutual aid relationship. Thank you to everyone who delivered food, water, coffee and anything else that happened behind the scenes during the call.

Most importantly thank you to our members for responding. Our department would not be what it is without those that put in countless hours of training and put their lives on hold show up when the tones drop.

You are valued, you are appreciated and you are essential to our community.

Kenaston Volunteer Fire Department is currently on scene providing mutual aid.

DFD INCIDENT UPDATE – VEHICLE FIRE ON HIGHWAY 11

Davidson Fire Department is currently on scene of a vehicle fire approximately 3 miles north of Davidson on Highway 11, involving the southbound lanes.

Highway 11 southbound is currently closed, and a detour has been established. Traffic is being redirected south before heading east to reconnect with Highway 11.

The fire involves a trailer load of tires. The fire has been contained, and crews are working diligently to extinguish the remaining fire. Firefighters will also be assisting with scene cleanup. Due to the nature of this incident, crews expect to remain on scene for an extended period of time.

⚠️ PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE: Please use caution when approaching the scene, follow all posted detours, and remain alert for emergency vehicles and responding personnel.

We appreciate your patience, understanding, and cooperation as our crews work to bring this incident under control and ensure the safety of everyone involved.
