Thank you to everyone who came out to Station One today to see the new Salvation Army Emergency Response vehicle. With your support during the BBQ, we were able to raise $712.30 for Muscular Dystrophy Canada. This brings our 2026 donation total for City of Kenora Fire and Emergency Services to $2112.30.

Come out to Station One today from 11AM to 1PM to see the The Salvation Army's newest response vehicle and enjoy lunch with your local Fire Fighters. Cost for lunch is any donation to Muscular Dystrophy Canada. We will have also be showing off our new Wildland Fire Truck and there will be giveaways for those who come. Hope to see you there!

The flag at Station One is currently at half-mast in memory of Retired Captain Kjell Pedersen. Kjell joined the Kenora Fire Department in 1964 before becoming a KPFFA member in 1971 as a full-time fire fighter. He would retire in March 2000 after serving his community for over 35 years. We thank Retired Captain Pedersen for his service and send our condolences to his wife, daughters, son and his grandchildren.

Even the sun came out to celebrate Matthew Irvine on his first day as a Professional Fire Fighter! Matthew's journey began with becoming a PPC Fire Fighter in 2022. Shortly after that, he attended the Ontario Fire Academy in 2023. After becoming fully certified, he joined the Live-in PPC program in 2024. Matthew was working as a Maintenance Operator prior to being hired. Congratulations to Matthew on your new career!

Congratulations to Joel Pineau for completing his first day as a Professional Fire Fighter. Joel graduated from the Fire and Emergency Services Training Institute (FESTI) last May in Mississauga. He joined Kenora Fire as a PPC shortly after completing his training. Before pursuing a career in Fire Fighting, Joel attended the University of Winnipeg where he received a degree in Kinesiology. We wish Joel a safe and fulfilling career!
