JFO arrest 4 and seize drugs in Summerside.

On August 24th, 2026, Prince County JFO (Joint Forces Operations) with the assistance of Provincial JET and Summerside Police Service, executed a drug search warrant at a residence in Summerside. Inside the residence police arrested 4 individuals for possession of co***ne for the purpose of trafficking. A search of the residence yielded approximately 130 grams of co***ne, cash, a replica firearm, and other drug paraphernalia.

The Prince District JFO Drug Unit is comprised of members of the Prince District RCMP, Summerside Police Services, and Kensington Police Services. It focuses on drug activity in Prince County. "The Joint Forces Operations Unit remains steadfast in its commitment to disrupting the drug trade and protecting our communities throughout Prince County," said Chief Jason Blacquiere of the Summerside Police Service. "This seizure and the arrests made are the result of strong partnerships between the Summerside Police Service, RCMP, Kensington Police Service, and Provincial JET.”

As we continue to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the Kensington Police Service, we’re taking some time to look back at the people and stories that helped shape our police service into what it is today.

This newspaper article takes us all the way back to 1959 and tells the story of Vernon Reeves, who served as a Kensington police officer and later Police Chief. Chief Reeves passed away in 2003.

While none of us serving today had the opportunity to know Chief Reeves personally, there is no question that he is an important part of our history. The officers who served Kensington before us helped build the foundation of the police service we are proud to carry on today.

It is especially interesting to read Chief Reeves’ words from more than 65 years ago and see both how much policing has changed and, in some ways, how much has stayed the same.

As we celebrate 100 years of policing in Kensington, we are proud to remember those who wore the uniform before us and recognize their service to this community.

MEDIA RELEASE – EDUCATIONAL ASSISTANT CHARGED WITH ASSAULT

Kensington Police Service has charged a 38 year old Kensington woman employed as an educationAL assistant at Queen Elizabeth Elementary School following an investigation involving an 8 year old student.

After receiving a complaint from the Public Schools Branch, Kensington Police Service conducted an investigation, resulting in the education assistant being charged with:

• Three counts of Assault
• One count of Assault with a Weapon
• Three counts of Assault Causing Bodily Harm

The accused will appear in Provincial Court in Summerside at a later date to answer to the charges.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released at this time.

MEDIA RELEASE – ARREST OF SUMMERSIDE MAN

On August 20, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Kensington Police Service arrested a 37-year-old Summerside man in relation to multiple ongoing investigations.

The accused has now been charged with:

• CC 320.18(1)(a) – Operation While Prohibited × 2
• CC 320.17 – Flight from a Peace Officer × 2
• CC 320.13(1) – Dangerous Operation × 2
• CC 733.1(1)(b) – Failure to Comply with Probation Order × 2
• CC 88(1) – Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose × 2

The accused was arrested and lodged at the Prince County Correctional Centre in Summerside, where he remains in custody awaiting a court appearance.

During the arrest, officers seized suspected controlled substances, bear spray, edged weapons, and other items of evidentiary value. The investigation remains ongoing, and additional charges may be laid.

As the matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released at this time.
