A huge thank you to everyone who helped make today's Kensington Police Service Bicycle Rodeo a success!

We would like to thank Mike's Independent Grocer for providing food, the Kensington Credit Union for working the BBQ, the members of Council who assisted with the event, and all of the community members and businesses who generously donated money and bicycles.

Because of your support, we were able to give away 55 bicycles and helmets to children from Kensington and the surrounding area. Seeing the smiles on their faces made all the hard work worthwhile.

A special thank you goes out to Deputy Chief Jim Gotell, Office Manager Brenda Perry, and all of the officers and volunteers who stepped up and made the event happen while I was away.

Events like this are only possible because of the incredible support we receive from our community. Thank you for helping make a difference in the lives of local children.

35 year old man arrested for 2nd time in a month by JFO.

On June 1st, 2026 Prince District JFO conducted a targeted vehicle stop on Water Street in Summerside. The driver was arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking co***ne. Police seized co***ne and cash. 35-year-old Alexander Clarence Robert Banks was arrested and remanded into custody. He had previously been arrested on May 5, 2026 for other outstanding drug related offences.

“The fact that the same individual has been arrested twice within a single month for drug-related offences demonstrates both the persistence of those involved in trafficking and the unwavering commitment of our Joint Forces Operation unit. This work is critical to deterrence - sending a clear message that those who choose to bring illicit drugs into our community will be held accountable.” said Jason Blacquiere Chief of the Summerside Police.

The Prince District JFO Drug Unit is comprised of members of Summerside Police Services, the Prince District RCMP and Kensington Police Services. It focuses on drug activity in Prince County. If you have information about drugs in your community, please contact your local police detachment. In Prince County the Prince District Joint Forces Operations can be reached at 902-436-9300.

Speed Limit Signage in Kensington

Recently, we have received comments suggesting there is not enough signage warning motorists of speed limit changes when entering Kensington.

To address those concerns, one of our officers travelled the entrances to our community this morning and photographed some of the existing signage. The attached photos show examples of the speed limit signs, speed radar warning signs, school bus warning signs, and other traffic safety signs currently in place.

Based on our observations, there is ample signage on the approaches to Kensington, providing motorists with clear notice of the posted speed limits and reasonable distance to adjust their speed before entering town.

While the Kensington Police Service is responsible for enforcing traffic laws, we are not responsible for the placement or maintenance of roadway signage. Our role is to help keep our roads safe through education and enforcement.

We encourage all drivers to watch for posted signs, obey the speed limits, and help keep Kensington safe for everyone.
