Violence, fear, and intimidation have no place in our movements.

Protest is powerful because it brings people together, not because it makes people afraid. We change minds, build momentum, and hold leaders accountable by organizing, showing up, and standing together.

Safety matters. For protesters, volunteers, workers, and the public alike. If we want a better community, we have to model it. We move forward together, or not at all.

Join me on July 15th in a demonstration outside of Premier Tim Houston’s State of the Province at Acadia University. We will be handing out overdue fine notices to all in attendance and letting him know how we feel about the Fate of the Province.

Their event begins at 11:00am so we will be on site from 10:00, and wrapping up at 1:30pm.

With the upcoming closure of 5 libraries in the Annapolis Valley, community members will be unable to access valuable information and essential services.

Morning coffee at coffee co (let’s be honest- it was my third cup of the day) and more library advocacy. I’ve been making phone calls which have largely gone unanswered, but I’m making them anyway. I’ve been sending emails which have largely gone unanswered, but I’m sending them anyway. My time might not be valuable to our elected officials, but it’s valuable to me and I’m choosing to spend it on fighting for our communities.
I am so over cruel cuts, cruel government and crappy policies designed to erode public services, but bring on the summer of advocacy, demonstrations and “have the day you deserve” email signatures.

What a great game (Wildcats with the W!)

If you haven’t been to a game at the park lately, consider this your sign to go back. There’s something so nostalgic about a summer evening spent in the stands, catching up with friends, and watching some great baseball. It’s the perfect way to have that 1990s summer (and a welcome reminder that some of the best memories are still made at the ballpark)!

Former Town of Kentville councillor and Wildcats superfan Gillian Yorke (with coach John Ansara) was on hand to throw out the first pitch here on Ladies Night. For those keeping score at home, she threw a perfect strike!

Tonight from 5:00–7:00 PM, we're gathering at to call MLAs and let the provincial government know that Nova Scotians expect action on library funding.

If you can make it, join us. We'll have scripts, support, and fellow library lovers ready to help you make your call.

Can't make it in person? That's okay. One voicemail from your couch, your kitchen table, or your parked car can make a difference too. Take 60 seconds and leave a message for MLAs tonight.

Let's make sure our elected officials hear us loud and clear: insufficient provincial funding created this problem, and it's time for the province to fix it.

Phone it in for libraries!

Libraries aren't closing because people don't use them. They're closing because years of inadequate funding have left library systems trying to do more with less, and less, and less. Tim Houston knows libraries are essential. The numbers, the research, and the stories from communities all point in the same direction.

Yet communities are still being told to make do.

So let's make a few calls.

Join me for a Library Phone Bank and help remind our MLAs that libraries aren't an optional service. They're where children discover reading, seniors access technology, Nova Scotians access virtual health appointments, job seekers find support, newcomers build connections, and communities come together.

Keep showing up, folks! I know it can feel exhausting, but please don’t let the feeling of hopelessness stay too long. Make your voices heard, and ensure this government can’t say they didn’t know what they were doing to their constituents.

Of course, they already knew what they were doing as they formed, in 2024, a library funding review committee made up of government staff, library board members and municipal councillors who recommended changing the provincial funding formula to reflect inflation and other financial pressures. But sure, tell me again how you were “surprised” and “dismayed” by the closures.

Back by popular demand, we’ve got a new round up of valley events in support of NS libraries over the next 7 days.

As we head into week 2, it’s critical that we show decision makers that momentum is growing, not slowing down - and the best way to do that is by continuing to show up.

Sunday, June 7th 1:00pm, MLAs office (347 Main Street)
