After a summer break, we’re excited to be getting together again for our September Valley Gardeners Club meeting!

This month, we’re delighted to welcome Jaime Lavers, owner of The Petal Farm, who will be sharing her tips and knowledge on putting your garden to bed for winter and preparing for the colder months ahead.

Free for members | $5 for non-members
Non-member admission can be applied toward a membership if you decide to join that evening.

Something our Valley Gardeners members might be interested in this weekend!

The Medicine of the People - Herbal Celebration is happening this Saturday at Gaspereau Mountain Herb Farm & Botanical Sanctuary in Wolfville.

The day includes herb walks, herbal medicine lectures, hands-on medicine making, workshops and more - a great opportunity for anyone interested in gardening, herbs, medicinal plants or simply learning more about the plants growing around us.

Sharing in case this is up anyone’s garden path! 🌱🌼

This is the only time of the year that you can pick your own flowers at our farm, so don't miss out!
Make your appointment now at https://lavendercanada.com/pages/lavender-u-pick. We provide all the tools and instructions for you to pick a bouquet that can be dried to last for up to a year. We are located at 3768 Highway 6, in Seafoam, NS - about 2 hours drive from either Halifax or Moncton, just west of Pictou.

🌿 South Shore Garden Adventure – A Few Seats Still Available! 🌿

Good news! Our South Shore Garden Adventure on Saturday, July 4 is officially going ahead!

Join us for a day of gardens, plants, learning, and great company as we travel together to:

🌱 Oceanview Home & Garden, one of the Maritimes' largest garden centres

🍋 Exotic Fruit Nursery for a private guided tour through their incredible collection of unusual fruit trees and edible plants

🌊 Mahone Bay, where you'll have free time to enjoy lunch, stroll the waterfront, browse the shops, and explore at your own pace

🚌 Departing New Minas Big Stop at 9:00 am
🚌 Returning approximately 4:30 pm
💲 $50 per person

A few seats remain available!

Valley Gardeners members are welcome to bring friends, family members, neighbours, or fellow plant lovers. You do not need to be a club member to attend.

Join us for our June Valley Gardeners Club meeting as we welcome special guest speaker Janice Schmidt, President of the Canadian Rose Society.

Janice is an experienced horticultural, design, and rose judge who has dedicated years to educating gardeners about the growing, care, and preservation of roses. Her passion for roses, horticulture, and gardening education has made her a sought-after speaker across Canada.

Whether you're a longtime rose enthusiast or just beginning to grow roses in your garden, this promises to be an informative and inspiring evening.

**Please note our meeting location has changed for June.**

Admission is free for Valley Gardeners Club members. Non-members are welcome to attend for $5, and if you decide to join the Club, that $5 can be applied toward your membership.

Annual memberships are:

• $25 Family (2 people)

Memberships are valid until the end of October.

We look forward to seeing members, guests, and rose lovers alike for an evening of gardening inspiration and education.

Join us for our May meeting with Kevin Morin.

Kevin has a mixed farm behind Canning with 3 acres of mixed fruit and a flock of sheep. He has worked in agriculture his entire professional life, with roles at Dalhousie’s Agricultural Campus, McGill University’s Mac Farm, the Nova Scotia Department of Agriculture, and currently Agriculture & Agri-Food Canada in Kentville.

Always keen to try new things, Kevin incorporated biochar into his own farm in 2024 and will be sharing his insights on Soil Health + Biochar.
