Summer is officially upon us and it’s the perfect time of year to make an Elderflower Cordial. If you don’t have time to make it yourself, come on down to the Grist Mill to buy a glass (or a little bottle to take home!)
Available while supplies last!

We had so much fun hosting our first school group tour of the season. Grade 6 students travelled all the way from Osoyoos to learn about the early agricultural history of our Valley and the life cycle of wheat: from seed to sprout to sheaf. They tried their hands at grinding flour and even churned their own butter to enjoy on fresh wood-stove baked biscuits afterwards. Their curiosity and enthusiasm was a true joy to be a part of for the day.

Our beloved Grist Mill is spinning once again!
Colin, our all-star Miller, has been working his tail off figuring out how to get the old girl turning and after weeks of tinkering, sleuthing and good old fashioned elbow grease, he did it!
A huge thank you to the many volunteers and local businesses who lended a hand, provided some advice and helped us get here. It truly takes a village (and a Colin).

Looking for an epic day out this weekend? We’ve got you covered at the Grist Mill and Gardens
Here’s our recommended itinerary:
11 a.m. - Peruse the gift shop and ponder over your options… Tallow cream? Specialty tea? Heritage plants? Local history book? Homemade jam or jelly?
11:15 am - Let the decision wait while the scent of homemade scones and muffins entices you over to the Tea Room. Order a muffin and a specialty tea (and choose the perfect tea cup to drink it from).
11:30 am - Marvel at the milkweed in bloom and cheer on the gluttonous Tiger swallowtail as it fuels up on its nectar (while you devour your muffin in solidarity).
11:35 am - Explore the old historic buildings to learn about and experience a simpler way of life. Enjoy conversations with our volunteers and site interpreters (and be sure to sample the homemade baking at the summer kitchen).
Noon - Get in line to sample Dani’s famous New England clam chowder. It will change your life. You’ll definitely want a scone on the side and a lavender lemonade to wash it down.
12:45 pm - work off the muffin, summer kitchen baking, clam chowder and scone by playing a little round of croquet or bocce ball out on the lawn.
1:30 pm - have a little snooze under one of the old apple trees in our heritage orchard (no one will bat an eye).
2:30 pm - make your final decision about what to buy from the gift shop and head on out. (Perhaps to a Similkameen winery?)

We’re serving up a little southern comfort in our Tea Room all weekend long — homemade chilli, warm cornbread, and sweet iced tea are available for you to chow down between Keremeos Rodeo Association events.
Swing by, bring your boots, and come hungry. Nothing says rodeo weekend like good food and good company. ❤️
