🌱📚 Exciting News — The Lakeland Regional Library Seed Library is Here! 📚🌱

With support from the Healthy Together Now program, funded by the Manitoba Government, we are thrilled to launch the Lakeland Regional Library Seed Library!

So… what is a Seed Library?

It works much like a traditional library and follows one simple idea:

🌱 Borrow → Grow → Return 🌱

With your library membership, you can borrow up to 5 packets of seeds each month to grow at home. At the end of the season, we encourage you to let some of your plants go to seed and return a portion of those seeds to help our collection continue to grow and flourish for everyone in our community.

(Returning seeds is encouraged but not required.)

We also gladly accept seed donations outside of the program!

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or just getting started, the Seed Library is a wonderful way to grow food, flowers, and community connections while creating opportunities to learn and share, encouraging self-reliance, supporting healthy eating, and helping mitigate food insecurity.

Stop by the library to learn more and start growing! 🌻🥕🍅

Happy International Museum Day!!

On 18 May 2026, museums worldwide will mark International Museum Day under the theme "Museums Uniting a Divided World". The theme highlights the potential of museums to act as bridges across cultural, social, and geopolitical divides, fostering dialogue, understanding, inclusion and peace within and between communities worldwide.

J.A.V. David Museum is proud to be the holder of so much history of our community, municipality and province! We love watching people connecting with the past and their family history when they visit the museum. Make a museum visit part of your next outing or on your summer bucket list - you won’t be disappointed. It’s such a simple way to support museums!

Happy Manitoba Day! 💛🌾

On May 12, 1870, the Manitoba Act received Royal Assent, setting the stage for the creation of our beautiful province. Just two months later, on July 15, Manitoba officially joined Canadian Confederation as the fifth province.

Today, we celebrate Manitoba’s rich history, vibrant culture, and the diverse communities that make this province such a special place to call home. ❤️

Happy Manitoba Day, everyone!
