Kindersley Fire Department Public Education Division Joins Westberry Elementary School for Annual Play Day.

Yesterday was a day filled with laughter, excitement, water, and plenty of sunshine as members of the Kindersley Fire Department's Public Education Division joined students and staff at Westberry Elementary School for their annual Play Day.
To help make the day extra special, firefighters closed a portion of the street and set up a fun-filled obstacle course for students to navigate. The course challenged participants to run, and work their way through a variety of activities, all while enjoying the enthusiasm and encouragement of firefighters, classmates, teachers and volunteers.
With temperatures rising throughout the day, firefighters also made sure everyone had a chance to cool off by spraying water, providing a refreshing break from the heat and adding even more fun to the event. It even ended in a water fight between some of our members.

The obstacle course is part of the Kindersley Fire Department's Public Education Program, which aims to engage with the community in positive and interactive ways while promoting fire safety awareness and building relationships with local youth.
"We always enjoy opportunities like this to connect with our community," said members of the Public Education Division. "Seeing the smiles on the children's faces and being part of such a fun event makes it all worthwhile."

The Kindersley Fire Department would like to thank Westberry Elementary School for inviting us to be part of their annual Play Day and allowing us to share in a day of fun, and community spirit. We look forward to continuing to support events that bring our community together.

Thanks again to all that participated

Kindersley Fire Department Fire Crews Getting Weary

Kindersley Fire Department crews are feeling the effects of an exceptionally busy stretch of emergency responses.

Over the past six days, firefighters have responded to nine emergency calls, with multiple incidents occurring on several days. Crews have been called out at all hours of the day and night to battle a variety of emergencies, including numerous wildland fires sparked by lightning strikes, high winds, and mechanical failures.

While many people see firefighters returning to the station after a call, the work is far from over. Once an incident is under control, firefighters spend countless additional hours cleaning equipment, servicing apparatus, restocking supplies, completing reports, and ensuring both personnel and equipment are ready to respond to the next emergency.

The recent combination of dry conditions, strong winds, and frequent ignition sources has created challenging conditions for emergency responders throughout the region. Despite the demanding operational tempo, Kindersley Fire Department members continue to answer every call with professionalism and dedication, ensuring the safety of residents, property, and surrounding communities.

As the busy season continues, the department reminds the public to do their part in preventing fires by exercising caution with equipment, properly extinguishing smoking materials, avoiding activities that may create sparks during dry conditions, and reporting fires immediately.

Kindersley Fire Department would like to thank its members and their families for the sacrifices they make during periods of sustained emergency activity. Their commitment and dedication to protecting the community, often at the expense of personal and family time, does not go unnoticed.

When the pager sounds, they answer—regardless of the hour, weather, or personal plans. The community's safety remains their priority

Kindersley Fire Department had a very busy day on May 26, 2026, beginning with members participating in the Sun West School Division PARTY Program, organized by Liza Dahl and staff.

As part of the program, Kindersley Fire Department, EMS, RCMP, setup and participated in a mock collision involving alcohol impairment, giving students an opportunity to witness what a serious incident can look like in real time, and the devastating impacts impaired driving can have on everyone involved.

Throughout the day, members of KFD were also invited to provide presentations to various student groups. Students were given an inside look at what emergency response scenes look like, what firefighters encounter during incidents, the effects these calls can have on emergency personnel, and were able to take part in hands-on demonstrations using extrication equipment.

Soon after presentations concluded, Kindersley Fire Department responded to multiple emergency calls occurring simultaneously.

At 16:24 hrs, KFD was dispatched to a wildland fire east of Beadle. Multiple units and personnel responded to the scene, where firefighting efforts were challenged by extremely high winds.

At 16:40 hrs, while crews were actively working the first fire, Kindersley Fire Department was dispatched to a second wildland fire located northeast of Kindersley. Additional crews and equipment were deployed to the second incident, while support units from the first fire assisted as needed.

At 18:42 hrs, personnel and equipment assigned to the second incident were cleared from service and returned to assist crews still operating at the original wildfire location, where extinguishment operations continued.

At 19:33 hrs, KFD was dispatched to alarms ringing at a rural location. The call was cancelled at 19:37 hrs after being confirmed as a false alarm.

At 20:05 hrs, all personnel and equipment were cleared from the original wildland fire scene and returned to service.

Kindersley Fire Department would like to thank all responding personnel, mutual support agencies, and the public for their continued support and cooperation throughout a very demanding operational day.

At 15:40, Kindersley Fire was dispatched to a grass fire along the railway tracks, believed to have been started by a passing train.

Crews arrived on scene to find approximately a quarter-acre of grass burning along the tracks. At the time, the fire was not threatening any structures or property. Firefighters quickly brought the fire under control, reporting the fire extinguished at 15:58.

At 16:04, a second dispatch was issued for multiple additional fires east along the railway tracks. Kindersley Fire responded with all available personnel and apparatus, including:

2 Water Tenders
2 Pumpers
1 Wildland Unit
2 Utility Units with trailers carrying side-by-sides equipped with skid packs
1 Command Unit

The incident ultimately developed into 12 separate fires, including 4 major fire events, spanning approximately 25 kilometres along the rail line.

This became an all-hands-on-deck operation involving Kindersley Fire, local farmers, Hutterite colonies, and CN Rail, all working together to bring the fires under control and fully extinguish them. Additional resources included multiple water trucks, sprayers loaded with water, cultivators, backpacks, and other firefighting equipment.

We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who assisted in the firefighting efforts and worked together to protect the area.

At 20:53, all personnel and equipment were cleared and returned to service.
