On November 11, joins communities across the country in honouring the courage and sacrifice of those who served and those who gave their lives in defence of Canada and its freedoms. 

Residents are invited to gather in reflection and remembrance at one of the following services taking place in King Township and neighbouring communities:

🗓 Kettleby | Sunday, Nov. 8 at 10:45 a.m. 
📍 Kettleby Cemetery, 631 Kettleby Rd.

🗓 Bolton | Sunday, Nov. 8 at 12:30 p.m.
📍 Bolton Cenotaph, 149 Centennial Dr.

🗓 Schomberg | Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m.
📍 Schomberg Cenotaph, Trisan Centre, 25 Dillane Dr.

🗓 Aurora | Wednesday, Nov. 11 at 10:45 a.m.
📍 Aurora Cenotaph, 14659 Yonge St.

Residents can also explore a series of exhibits and displays at King Museum, Trisan Centre, and the King Township Municipal Centre that share stories of local veterans and the lasting impact of war in the community.

♻️Hazardous household materials and electronics require special handling and should never be placed in the garbage or poured down drains. Join and York Region (The Regional Municipality of York) at King’s first-ever Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Recycling Event to dispose of them safely and help protect our soil, air and water.
 
📅 Saturday, Oct. 24 
🕙 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. 
📍 Trisan Centre 
 
Accepted items include paints, solvents, propane cylinders, gasoline, pesticides, batteries, fluorescent bulbs and household chemicals, plus electronics such as computers, printers, televisions and cell phones.
 
✅ Hazardous household waste collection is available to York Region residents only; proof of residency is required. Electronic waste recycling is open to everyone; proof of residency is not required.
 
Bring your empties with you, Schomberg Lions Club will be on-site collecting bottles and cans! All LCBO and B**r Store products will be accepted.

Here’s the latest breakdown of turnout figures for the advance voting period in each of the Township’s six wards:

📍Ward 2 – 10.68%
📍Ward 3 – 11.33%
📍Ward 4 – 17.48%
📍Ward 5 – 14.71%
📍Ward 6 – 6.79%

💰For every dollar collects in 2026, the Township keeps only 40 cents, while approximately 43 cents goes to York Region (The Regional Municipality of York) and 17 cents to the Province for education.
 
While the Township only receives 40 cents for every dollar, it delivers many of the local services residents rely on every day such as fire protection, libraries, snow removal, road maintenance, parks, recreation programs and curbside waste collection.
