I am running for councillor of Ward 5, Hanwell Rural Community (RC), in the Local Government by-election on November 28, 2022. Amidst the many unknowns in this time of local government reform, our area of Kingsclear Local Service District, soon to be Ward 5 of Hanwell RC, needs someone who can collaborate on behalf of residents with existing Council members, staff and volunteers of Hanwell RC. My
roles as Chair of the Kingsclear Local Service District Advisory Committee, Director of Regional Service Commission 11, Chair of the Regional Community Policing Committee and member of the Hanwell RC Communication Committee have prepared me for this position. I am a collaborator, a problem solver, and a very organized individual. My family and I have
lived in Island View for forty-five years. Before that I spent time here on my grandfather’s farm. I have been a dedicated volunteer for community groups and for my professional organizations as well. I have a proven commitment to the community and know the governance history of the area. I strongly believe that my experience and positive mindset will enable me to successfully represent Ward 5 residents as we work through the changes in local government that are on the horizon. My pledge will be to listen to all the area residents that I represent and to voice their interests and concerns while conducting my Council duties. I am a parent and know how valuable it is to have confidence in safe and equitable opportunities for families. I am a senior and understand the importance of tailoring local services to include their needs. Above all, it is my intent for all residents of Ward 5, young and old alike, to find the transfer to Hanwell RC a pleasant and progressive experience.
