Our Winter Clothing Drive has helped hundreds of newcomers access essential winter clothing at no cost.

This year, we’re expanding the initiative to support all KEYS clients who may need a little extra help preparing for the colder months.

🔹 Day 1 – Know Yourself & Understand the Job Market
Identify your skills, understand Canadian workplace expectations, explore the local job market, and learn how to read job postings effectively.

🔹 Day 2 – Build Your Professional Brand
Create targeted resumes and cover letters, tailor applications to employers, and strengthen your LinkedIn presence.

🔹 Day 3 – Networking & Getting Through the Door
Build professional relationships, practise your elevator pitch, and learn how networking, informational interviews, and mentoring can support your job search.

🔹 Day 4 – Interviews, Resilience & Action Planning
Practise interview techniques, learn strategies for navigating workplace culture and rejection, and create your own Job Search Action Plan.

🥗 Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

🎓 Participants who complete all four days will receive a Certificate of Completion.

September 30 is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, also known as Orange Shirt Day.

It is a day to honour residential school Survivors, their families and communities, and remember the children who never returned home.

Today is an opportunity to learn more about the history of residential schools and Indigenous peoples in Canada, and to reflect on the importance of truth, healing and reconciliation.

September 25 is Franco-Ontarian Day, a day to celebrate Ontario’s Francophone community, language and culture.

Francophone communities are an important part of Kingston’s diverse community, and newcomers who speak French can find services and support to help them settle, work and connect in Kingston.

What a special weekend in Kingston!

KIP was honoured to attend the City of Kingston's Citizenship Ceremony, where 50 people became Canadian citizens. 🇨🇦

We joined our community partners at the Intercultural Arts Festival, Immigrant Services Kingston and Area - ISKA, ACFO Mille-Îles and KEYS Employment & Newcomer Services and many more.

Thank you to everyone who came together to celebrate the diversity, culture and community that make Kingston a welcoming place for all!

Gender Equality Week, September 21-27, 2026, is a time to recognize the importance of equality and fairness for everyone. Everyone should have the same opportunities, rights and respect, regardless of gender.

Building a community where everyone can participate, feel safe and be treated fairly helps make Kingston a welcoming place for newcomers and all residents.

🧡 Walk for Truth and Reconciliation - September 30 🧡

Join the Kingston Native Centre and Language Nest (KNCLN), the City of Kingston, and members of the Walk for Truth and Reconciliation Working Group, Sherry Elliott and Patrick Brant, as we come together to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day.

We invite the community to gather at Skeleton Park at 5:00 PM for opening words, with the walk beginning at 5:30 PM as we make our way to Confederation Park. Along the route, participants will share drumming, and singing. All are welcome to bring their prayers, drums, voices, and regalia.

This community-led walk honours Survivors of residential schools, remembers the children who never returned home, and creates space for reflection, learning, and collective action toward reconciliation. We are grateful to Sherry and Patrick, whose dedication, leadership, and commitment have helped guide this Walk for many years and continue to inspire community participation today.

An Every Child Matters Kingston Transit bus will accompany the walk to support those with accessibility or mobility needs. Participants are welcome to ride the bus and take part alongside community. The bus will travel with the walk, remain downtown during the gathering, and return participants to Skeleton Park at 7:30 PM.

🎨 The artwork on this year's promotional materials features artwork by Damian Bark, whose logo on the poster design has become a meaningful symbol of the Walk and its message of remembrance and reconciliation.

🧡 Orange shirts are now available for purchase at KNCLN, with proceeds supporting Friendship Centre programs and services for Indigenous community members.

All are welcome. Come as you are, and walk with us in remembrance, truth, and community.
