Excited for our City of Kingston colleagues and the launch of this amazing exhibition. Hope to see you at City Hall this summer!

Coming soon to Kingston City Hall 🎶

Music From Miles Around, Sponsored by Empire Life opens June 20 at the Market Wing Cultural Space.
This free, year-long exhibition explores Kingston’s rich music history, from the sounds and traditions that predate the city to the venues, record shops, radio stations, teachers, bands, and artists still shaping the scene today.

Archival materials. Artifacts. Personal stories. Local legends. Never-before-seen pieces. And a city soundtrack that goes back much further than you might think.

Stay tuned. Kingston’s music story is about to take the stage.

The team at Kingston Grand Theatre is deeply saddened by the passing of Walter Fenlon. Walter Fenlon has been a visionary leader in Kingston not only through his professional work, but as a volunteer, the recipient of the Jim Bennett, Paul Harris, and Len Dover Awards, a member of the Queen’s University Campaign Cabinet, as Founder of Imagine Kingston, and the chair of the Grand Theatre Restoration Foundation. He has supported numerous community campaigns including the Springer Market Square revitalization project and the Sports & Entertainment Centre, known as Slush Puppie Place. Walter received the Governor General of Canada Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers in 2012 and the Ontario Medal for Good Citizenship Recipients presented by the Lieutenant-Governor in 2014.

Through Walter’s hard work and leadership, the Grand Theatre Restoration Foundation contributed more than $3.35 million for the restoration of Kingston Grand Theatre.

Following the Grand Theatre Restoration Campaign, Walter Fenlon and his wife Linda Ann Daly have continued to be consistent supporters of arts programming, both as subscribers and avid attendees of performances, as well as donors supporting the Grand OnStage series. In 2025, naming rights for the “Walter Fenlon & Linda Ann Daly Box Office” at Kingston Grand were finalized in recognition of their support.

A number years ago, Walter agreed to share a bit about his love for the theatre and for Grand OnStage in this touching video. Our collective hearts go out to Linda Ann Daly and the family and friends of Walter Fenlon during this difficult time.

A longtime supporter and Chair of The Grand Theatre Foundation, Walter Fenlon explains why the performing arts venue is an asset to Kingston.

Grand OnStage honours the life and legacy of Cris Derksen — an extraordinary Indigenous cellist, composer, and visionary music creator whose artistry reshaped the boundaries of contemporary music. Cris was recently announced to perform on February 10th, 2027 at Kingston Grand as part of the Grand OnStage’s 19th season.

Through her fearless creativity, powerful performances, and deep connection to culture and story, Cris inspired audiences across generations and communities. She brought the cello into new spaces, weaving together classical training, Indigenous traditions, and innovative soundscapes with unmatched authenticity and brilliance.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Cris. She will be remembered not only for her remarkable accomplishments, but for the creativity, courage, and humanity she shared so generously with the world.

Thanks to Sherry, Mark, Rebecca and Vicki for their always amazing service at the Walter Fenlon & Linda Ann Daly Box Office. They are sporting Grand OnStage 2026-27 t-shirts inspired by an iconic album that will be performed next season.

Any guesses as to what album this is? https://www.kingstongrand.ca/about/resident-companies/grand-onstage
