The Kingston Climate Summit starts today at St. Lawrence College, bringing together community members, organizations, researchers, and local leaders for two days of conversations, workshops, study tours, and hands on climate action.

We are especially excited to welcome former astronaut, physician, and author Dr. Dave Williams as this year’s keynote speaker. In Space on Earth: A Sustainable Future, Dr. Williams will explore how the innovation and problem solving behind space exploration can inspire climate solutions here at home.

There is still time to join us for an inspiring two days of learning, discussion, and connection.

A huge thank you to the organizations, partners, and sponsors helping make this year’s Summit possible. We are grateful for your support in bringing our community together around climate action. 💚

With just one week to go, the Kingston Climate Summit is almost here.

Join us for our free evening event on June 3rd at 6 pm featuring Dr. Dave Williams. Internationally recognized for pushing the boundaries of human achievement in space, underwater and in healthcare, Dr. Williams brings a compelling perspective to the urgent challenges of climate action, resilience, and sustainability. His career includes serving as an astronaut, aquanaut, and emergency physician, as well as leading innovation in healthcare and human performance in extreme environments. He is also the only non-American to hold a directorship at NASA. In addition, Dave is a cancer survivor – he lost his pilot’s license and ability to be an astronaut as he struggled through the disease…then he earned it all back and flew for a 2nd time in space after making his recovery.

♻️ Exciting things are happening for sustainability in local schools!

Sustainable Kingston is proud to be partnering with the Limestone District School Board to bring food waste recycling systems to five to seven schools. These systems will help divert food waste from landfills, reduce methane emissions, and transform leftover food into material that can be composted or used as fertilizer.

Beyond reducing waste, this initiative will help students build hands on knowledge about sustainability and environmental stewardship in their everyday school environment, supported by a mobile learning team helping schools reduce food waste together.

We are incredibly grateful for the support that helped move this initiative forward.

Now, we have another exciting opportunity to grow local impact. Sustainable Kingston has been entered into the McDougall Community Contest 2026, and community votes could help support future environmental programming and sustainability projects.

🗳️ Voting is open until May 31
