In response to the outbreak of the Second World War in 1939, the Kingston, ON, naval division was established on the site of the old Feed Mill. HMCS Cataraqui has occupied several sites in Kingston and moved into the current building at 24 Duty Drive in 1992.This location along the Cataraqui River provides an ideal training facility for small boats and diving operations, including easy access to Lake Ontario. Close to both the water and to additional military support facilities, Cataraqui has been a frequent host to regional and national level port security exercises. HMCS Cataraqui was one of the few Naval Reserve divisions to be assigned a naval air squadron, when, in 1954, the VC 921 Squadron was formed under the command of Lieutenant-Commander (Pilot) Allan Burgham. The squadron paraded as a part of Cataraqui and maintained a training base at the Kingston airport, where they flew Harvard aircraft until they were disbanded in 1959.

Par suite de l’éclatement de la Seconde Guerre mondiale en 1939, la Division navale de Kingston (Ontario) a été mise sur pied à l’emplacement de l’ancienne provenderie. Elle a été mise en service sous le nom de NCSM Cataraqui à la fin de 1941. Le NCSM Cataraqui a occupé plusieurs endroits à Kingston et il a déménagé dans son bâtiment actuel, au 24 de la promenade Duty, en 1992. Cet endroit, situé le long de la rivière Cataraqui, offre une installation d’entraînement idéale pour les petits bateaux et les opérations de plongée, y compris un accès facile au lac Ontario. L’établissement est à proximité de l’eau et d’autres installations militaires de soutien, de sorte qu’il accueille souvent les participants à des exercices régionaux et nationaux axés sur la sécurité portuaire. Le NCSM Cataraqui a été une des rares divisions de la Réserve navale à posséder un escadron de l’aéronavale. En effet, l’Escadron VC 921 a été formé en 1954 sous le commandement du capitaine de corvette (pilote) Allan Burgham et il a défilé en tant qu’élément du Cataraqui et a conservé une base d’instruction à l’aéroport de Kingston, où il a utilisé des avions Harvard jusqu’à sa dissolution en 1959.
