Thank you Bailey for being what was needed and making a difference in a young person's life. We celebrate you today for all the lives you've touched.

You will be missed.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our sweet Bailey. When Elizabeth from Kingston 4 Paws Service Dogs brought Bailey to our home in March of 2016, I could not have imagined the impact that she would have on our lives and hundreds of children, youth and adults. Whether it was at school, a hockey rink, a bingo, a grocery store, a coffee shop and yes, even at a funeral, Bailey always won over the room. I was grateful when my E.D Shawn Quigley at Youth Diversion was open to the idea of partnering with K4Paws and allowing Bailey to become my sidekick when I visited my schools. For a lot of young kids who had never met with a counsellor, Bailey was the perfect buffer. Of course, it was not long after that I became the side kick. I eventually got used to everyone greeting Bailey first with pets and then hearing “Oh, hi Dale” lol. It was truly an honor and a privilege to be able to witness all the joy that she brought to everyone each day. Her last year of retirement was spent having slow walks, lazy afternoons and snuggles. We would like to thank everyone from Kingston 4 Paws Service Dogs, Youth Diversion, Limestone District School Board, Algonquin and Lakeshore Catholic District School Board, Tamworth Veterinary Services - Dr Lori Forester, all her doggie sitters and Tola for all the support and love they gave Bailey over the years. She will be greatly missed.

The Scottie Charity Poker Game recently hosted its 6th annual event and it was the most successfully event to date raising over $2000. Through the lens of prevention, that has a value for us in the amount of $20,000. These funds will support our Kids Can't Wait Initiative which supports over 4000 children and youth in KFLA to overcome challenges. This annual event is an opportunity for friends and family of Scottie's to come together to celebrate his life and through Scottie, make a difference in another young person's life. Thank you so much Renee and Clint for supporting Youth Diversion, we are deeply honored.

Youth Diversion hosted its 51st Annual Meeting this past Thursday honouring Zachary Bathurst as the 2026 Volunteer of the Year. Zachary is one of our Mentors who has gone above and beyond in supporting this Mentee. We also honoured and congratulated Anne Marie McDonald who retired from our Board of Directors after serving 6 years with the last year as our Vice President. Anne Marie was also chosen by the Board of Directors as this year's recipient of the Nick Bala Distinguished Service Award, presented to an outstanding Youth Diversion Volunteer who has made a difference in our community. Anne Marie has directed her passions towards the Ace's Resilience Coalition and is the backbone of the work taking place with the Unnamed Youth Project. Congratulations to both Zachary and Anne Marie.
