August 31 is - a day to remember those lost to overdose and to reaffirm the importance of prevention, compassion, and support.

This year’s theme, β€œ25 Years On. Still Needed.”, marks 25 years of bringing communities together to remember lives lost, raise awareness and take action to prevent overdose.

The truth is, this day shouldn’t still be needed. But it is. Overdose continues to affect individuals, families and communities, including right here in KFL&A.

Sincere appreciation is extended to the local agencies, frontline workers and community members who continue to support people impacted by the overdose crisis and work toward a future where fewer lives are lost. πŸ’œπŸ€

Because while this day is still needed, it doesn’t have to be forever.

🌭 Good food, great people and giving back! ❀️

The Ministry of the Environment Ontario (MECP) brought colleagues together for a staff BBQ on August 27 to celebrate and say goodbye to their summer students, while raising funds in support of the United Way KFL&A campaign.

The day of giving didn’t stop there! Leftover burgers and asparagus from the BBQ were donated to Loving Hands Kingston, helping ensure good food went to good use and nothing was wasted. πŸ™Œ

Thank you to the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks team for turning a summer send-off into an opportunity to give back, support the community and make a difference locally.

Together, small acts of generosity can help change our tomorrow, today. πŸ’›
