🪴 Discover how plants grow and thrive while exploring sacred medicines and essential oils with guidance from an Indigenous leader. Participants will create their own smokeless smudge to take home and learn how traditional Indigenous knowledge connects with plant-based science.

Our special guest, Claire, is Algonquin from Pikwàkanagàn First Nation and a graduate of Queen’s University’s Indigenous Teacher Education Program (ITEP). For ages 8-12, registration required.

🐈‍⬛ Meet Oreo! This sweet senior lady loves nothing more than a calm, relaxed lifestyle. A true fan of naps and cozy lounging, Oreo would do best in a low-traffic home without young children or other animals.

Oreo is currently on medication for arthritis and is looking for a home that can support her on a gentle weight-loss journey. She also has adorably unique “crab claw” toes on her front paws that make her extra special!

📚 Looking for a meaningful way to spend your summer and earn volunteer hours?

KFPL is looking for teen volunteers to help support fun, welcoming programs for children and older adults across the Library this summer!

Volunteer opportunities include:

Play It Forward – connect with older adults through board games, card games and conversation during our Older Adults Day program.

Teen Reading Buddies – support young readers in Grades 1–3 through literacy activities and one-on-one reading practice, including paired reading with decodable nonfiction.

Bilingual Reading Buddies – provide one-on-one bilingual (French) reading support and literacy activities for new readers.
