CICE at Kingston SLC The CICE program at St. Lawrence College is a two year certificate program for adults with learning challenges. For more information, please visit our webpage.

The Community Integration through Co-operative Education (CICE) program is a two year certificate program designed for adults with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injury or other significant learning challenges who wish to further their education/vocational training in a community college setting. As a student, you will have the opportunity to complete an individualized program of study made up of courses from an area of concentration selected from St. Lawrence College’s program offerings, based on seat availability and suitability to your skill level. The courses will be tailored through a modification process to fit your academic abilities. You will be offered opportunities to develop and enhance your academic skills, and to develop and/or refine your abilities in a number of potential work enviΒronments through field placement experiΒences arranged by CICE program staff. You will receive support such as curriculum modification, note-taking, tutoring and other related academic services as needed. Upon successful completion of all courses and the field placement requirements you will graduate with an Ontario College Certificate in CICE.

πŸ”¨ This student is really raising the bar... and the scaffold!

As part of a Carpentry elective course, this student worked with a classmate to build a scaffold while practicing essential workplace skills such as communication, teamwork, safety awareness, and problem-solving.

Through inclusive, hands-on learning experiences, students have the opportunity to demonstrate their strengths, contribute meaningfully, and develop practical skills that support their personal and career goals.

We're proud to see our students reaching new heights and building confidence with every project! πŸ‘·

Taking a seat until Tuesday!

This student found the perfect rock to sit and relax on during our conservation area field trip, and now it's everyone else's turn!

A reminder that students do not have classes, tutoring, homework support, or placement activities on Monday, October 12.

Enjoy the break, get some rest, and we'll see you back next week ready for more learning, skill-building, and fun!

At CICE, learning goes beyond the classroom! Our students have many opportunities for hands-on learning and skill-building, helping them develop practical skills they can use in the workplace and everyday life.

This week, students taking Carpentry elective courses were spotted around campus with tape measures in hand, putting their math and problem-solving skills to the test.

From teamwork and communication to critical thinking and workplace readiness, every activity helps our students grow. We’d say they’re really going the extra yard in their learning!

Students in Placement Simulation played cooperative board games this week! In a cooperative board game, players work together as a team instead of competing against each other. Everyone shares the same goal and wins or loses as a group. Players must communicate, solve problems, make decisions, and support one another to succeed.
Activities like these provide a fun and engaging way for students to practice essential workplace skills. We're proud of the collaboration, encouragement, and positive attitudes our students demonstrated throughout the activity!

Who knew learning could be so much fun? 🧱✨

In Placement Simulation, CICE students are developing essential employability skills through interactive team-building activities. As they work together to plan, communicate, and solve problems, they're also building the confidence and skills needed to succeed in future placements and workplaces.

Last week, CICE students came together for a fun Kahoot and Trivia Night at Social Society. There was lots of laughter, friendly competition, and great conversations.
It was especially nice to welcome some of our first year students and see new connections being made. We look forward to seeing everyone at our next Social Society event! πŸŽ‰
