There is still time to count your business in!

The deadline for the 2026 Workplace Count has been extended to September 30. In partnership with area municipalities and Waterloo EDC we are connecting with businesses throughout the region. By gathering information directly from business owners, we can better understand local business needs, track economic trends, and support informed decisions that help our business community grow and succeed.

Our road maintenance crews have been hard at work all summer, filling potholes and repairing road surfaces to help keep Regional roads smooth and safe for everyone. A big thank you to our crews for the work they do, rain or shine!

And thank you to residents who took the time to report potholes! Your reports help us identify areas that need attention and prioritize repairs.

See a pothole that needs filling?
1. Check if it’s located on a Regional road
2. Fill out our online form: bit.ly/ROWcomplaint, or call 519-575-4400

When reporting, be sure to include the street name and the nearest address so crews can find it quickly.

Note: If the pothole is on a Regional road within one of the cities, please contact the city directly, as road maintenance there is handled by the local municipality.
And if you see road crews out working, please slow down and give them space to do their job safely.

Thanks for helping keep our roads safe for everyone!

Employees at the Region of Waterloo provide services to residents every day. This work is essential and appreciated.

The Region is now in negotiations with CUPE 1883, representing full-time office, clerical and technical employees.

We continue to work closely with CUPE 1883, with bargaining dates set in September and October. The Region is committed to reaching an agreement that is both competitive for members and affordable for residents.

Currently, CUPE 1883 will be in a legal strike position as of Saturday, September 26.

In the event of a strike, some services will continue with reduced capacity.

We understand that residents across Waterloo Region rely on the services the Region provides daily. We will continue to provide updates as information becomes available.

Further information, including a list of potential impacts, is available on our website at regionofwaterloo.ca/updates and on our social media channels.

Gender Equality Week is a time to celebrate diverse voices and recommit to building a more equitable and inclusive world.
By challenging barriers, embracing different perspectives, and fostering respect, we can help create communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Happy Gender Equality Week!

This week is a time to celebrate progress, recognize the achievements of women and gender-diverse people, and reflect on the work that remains to build a more equitable Canada.

Over the past 50 years, Canada has taken important steps toward gender equality, including expanding reproductive rights, legalizing same-sex marriage, supporting women’s participation and leadership in the workforce, investing in efforts to prevent and address gender-based violence, and advancing equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities.

While significant progress has been made, barriers still exist. Gender pay gaps, caregiving responsibilities, and unequal representation in leadership continue to affect women’s economic opportunities. That’s why conversations about women in the economy are really conversations about gender equality!

More than 400 attendees and 40 exhibitors filled Catalyst137 for Waterloo Region's inaugural Aero Expo, part of Waterloo Tech Week.

Through AeroWR, we're connecting industry, academia, government and Region of Waterloo International Airport to grow businesses, strengthen supply chains, develop talent and create new opportunities for our community. This week's Aero Expo event is one way we're supporting new connections, stronger partnerships and opportunities for local companies to grow.

Thank you to the exhibitors, speakers, sponsors and partners who made it possible — including the Accelerator Centre, the Greater KW Chamber of Commerce and the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce.
